For many anglers, catching walleyes in the weeds is something that they don't understand.  Jon Thelen has found success throughout his career targeting and catching walleyes in heavy weed cover.  He will be sharing some insights and secrets to this success at the FM Walleyes Unlimited February meeting on Thursday, February 21st.  Jon visited with Scott and Kyle about the event and the topic that he will be presenting on in this segment of "Gone Outdoors" Radio.

Each year thousands of ice anglers converge on Walker Bay of Leech Lake for the International Eelpout Festival.  This year marks the 40th anniversary of the event, which highlights a seldom recognized species of fish, the Eelpout, or lawyer, burbot, mariah, ling cod, or any of the other nicknames that this fish is known by.  Listen in as Jason previews the event and the fish that brings it all together.

Until recently, the details of Lake Winnipeg's bottom contours were a secret.  Craig McDougall of Anglers' Edge Mapping, a Canadian Based survey technology company shares how they were able to chart the South Basin of Lake Winnipeg and the Red River to make much of the structure that was hidden available to anglers chasing trophy greenbacks on the big lake.

The "Women On Ice Angler Project" recently brought a group of female outdoor enthusiasts out on Lake Superior for an event that focused on feeding the passion that these women have for the outdoors.  One of the organizers, Shantel Wittstruck of Sioux Falls, SD shares what the event did for the group and what other exciting things are in store in the future!
