So far, Biden’s Transition Team is partially built of People of Color, women, and LGBTQ people. His staff and senior staff are not all white, cis, able-bodied men. There is more work to be done to make his team truly reflect America but it is a collective step forward. Millie Bailey is known for her fireball personality. Friends describe her as daring and courageous. Millie decided to tandem skydive at 102 years old! True to her nature she was cool as a cucumber before the jump and celebrated upon completion.
Sydney Barber is now the first Black woman to be a US Naval Academy Brigade Commander. She will assume the highest leadership position within the US Naval Academy, overseeing the day-to-day activities and professional training of 4,400 of her fellow midshipmen. This marks a victory, breaking one of the final leadership barriers in the institution’s 175-year history!
