In this episode, we are discussing societal changes with our special guest, Jamie Byers. For Tin Foil Hat Time, we will be chatting about a couple of different cemeteries and experiences surrounding them.
"Born November, 1978, James Webb Byers entered into this world in the tiny hamlet of Milton, Florida. He successfully completed his primary and secondary education in the Santa Rosa County School District, without any honors. Following high school James ventured to the beautiful metropolis of Tallahassee where he earned a BS in Finance from FSU, and alcohol-induced liver failure. Moving on from school, Byers went to the prestigious law enforcement academy at Okaloosa-Walton College located in the luscious village of Niceville. After getting beat up every night for 8 months, he graduated and was immediately offered a position as Deputy Sheriff with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. He proudly and unprofessionally served the residents of the county for 4 years, including the last year undercover as a narcotics investigator. He and his wife then moved to the home of the Blue Angels, Pensacola, FL, where he served without distinction with the Pensacola Police Department for 2 years. His wife, the darling Katherine, then accepted a teaching job north of Atlanta, in to podunk community of Hoschton, Georgia. Katherine made it clear to her dear husband that he would not be participating in law enforcement in the Atlanta area. A crisis developed, and James was forced to find a new career. As having a family full of teachers, James decided to give it old gung-ho! He started at the bottom as a substitute teacher and worked his way into a full time paraprofessional job teaching the students being disciplined in In-School Suspension. The following year James moved from purgatory and into a classroom teaching 6th grade math and social studies. During this time a child was born to James and Katherine, and they decided to move back home. Actually, due to the Great Recession they both lost their teaching jobs and had to move back in with the folks. James took a job back in law enforcement, as a Senior Financial Investigator with the Florida Bureau of Financial Investigations within the Florida Office of Financial Services. This, however, was not meant to be as Governor Rick Scott, in all his wisdom and glory, closed the entire Pensacola office within a year of James’s employment, leaving 13 people unemployed. Thank you Mr Scott. James then took it as a sign and returned to the classroom, where he had remained until 2017, when he was promoted to Dean of Students. In the meantime, he earned a masters degree in Educational Leadership from the ivy-league educational institution of American College of Education, in hopes of future promotion to assistant principal and then principal. He currently resides in Pace Florida with his doting wife and wonderful son."
