And you thought we forgot about you!

2024 sure was one of the years, but we still each had 10 things that we were grateful for throughout the year! So from us to you happy holidays and we'll see you next year (with hopefully more episodes).

Bob had many thoughts running around their head. Jon had one specific topic consuming almost all brain power. We dig into frustrating video game patents from companies like Nintendo and Warner Brothers and break down why storytellers (including Bob) often revisit themes or arcs.

While we're shooting for more weeks on than off, this is our little escape project. If you DO want more episodes more frequently share the show with your friends or on your socials, review us on your preferred podcast platform, and like and comment our social posts.

The two most common never ending battles: home organization and entitled and out of touch gamers. With Bob's new job, our home may actually start looking like nearly thirty year old's live here. On the other hand gamers, which Jon arguably is one, are the worst, but in some incredibly nebulous ways.

We've been busy and burnt out little bees over the last year, but we missed out little chats that we shared with you all so we're going back to basics and talking about what's got us excited and what we're excited for. This week we're talking about Capcom's masterful Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and Jon's obsession with it and Bob's love of their latest TTRPG inspired comic creation, SlimeFrog.

Hey friends,

While we aren't picking THIS show back up any time soon, we couldn't not do our annual "Top Ten Things" episode. This year started off a little rockier than the last few. While we loved producing this show regularly we have an exciting project in the works to use all of the skills we learned on this one and hopefully avoid all of the mistakes.

That's being said there was a lot we were grateful for throughout the year. So from us to you happy holidays and we'll see you next year.

(PS also we MIGHT start dropping the occasional movie or show review here when we have the time and drive for it, but while you wait be sure to check out our personal projects in the links below)

Hey friends this week's episode will be the last regularly scheduled episode of the podcast for the foreseeable future. This movie is an incredible look into the growth of a young queer black man and his journey to finding out who he is. Told over 3 periods in his life portrayed by three different incredibly talented actors Barry Jenkin's "Moonlight" is incredible.

Keep up with our current endevours and keep an eye out for random episodes and live shows coming up. Thanks for 4 wonderful years.

This week kicks off our exploration of films produced by NON-AMPTP studios to support the striking writers and actors who bring to life the stories we love watching. There is no better candidate to start with than 2013's “The Congress”.  The mixed medium film directed by Ari Folman stars Robin Wright in a world where movie studios have started scanning actors to continue “creating” movies without the actors. 20 years pass and contract negotiations require her attendance of the futurological Congress, presented in the film as an acid trip soaked tribute to the animation styles of the 20s and 30s.

It's an odd film that predicted some of the largest changes to both the industry as well as technology in general.  It's clear that studios are already attempting to achieve a similar process via scanning background actors and the way that virtual reality has become more of a social platform.

"Nobody gets through this life unscathed. Not you, not me, Mr. Shaky Hands. But then you’re left with a choice. Are you going to let your grief drown you, or are or are you going to face it and come through the other side?"

Apple TV's “Shrinking” is a beautiful exploration of grief and the family you choose. It is also one of the best written and well-performed shows of the year and the creatives both behind the scenes and on the screen deserve fair compensation, residuals that reflect the streaming landscape and protections from studios stealing their work and likeness. In solidarity with both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA's strikes, this will be the last episode covering a project produced by the AMPTP.

"...your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

This has been on our list for a long time, 1993's "Jurassic Park" is possibly still one of the most enjoyable movies ever released and this week Bob is finding out if the Spielberg classic is worth the hype.

"He hasn't always had it easy, and he's not the only one. And now he's on his own, and he's not the only one. You think you know the rest. You don't. I thought knew the rest, but I didn't. I didn't wanna hurt him, but I did. And... he's not the only one."

The sequel to the 2018 instant classic is another instant classic with even more animation styles, action, and spider-people. "Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse" see's Miles (Shameik Moore) reunited with some familiar faces (Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez)  and some new ones (Oscar Isaac, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni) as they track down The Spot (Jason Schwartzman)

Released:
June 2, 2023

We're also introducing a new format this episode. In the past we've played it pretty fast and loose, but we want the show to be something movie lovers look forward listening too for both our takes on the film AND what went into making the film.

• We'll be highlighting the creatives behind films and what they've worked on to create a context.
• Taking a deeper dive into the character development and themes of the the film.
• Highlighting our favorite things and recommending similar titles.
• We're also bringing back trivia to make Bob struggle a bit.
