Jesus gave us clear teaching about his return, in this passage we consider how we are meant to live in light of the definite return of our glorified Lord.

In the final week before his crucifixion, Jesus pauses to make an observation with massive implications. Jesus highlights an impoverished widow who gives every last cent she has as a temple offering!

The word of God is not an intellectual exercise to be wrestled with, but the revelation of God to be submitted to. We are commanded by the Scriptures to grow in the knowledge of God, but this must be a humble exercise to know him more rather then to try and prove our own points of view.

When Jesus upset the local political rulers of his day they were not able to touch him, why? The reason is that Jesus was so popular with the regular person that the authorities were afraid of the crowds. The early church had favour with all the people due to their generosity and love. The challenge this week is that we the church should live lives so evidently filled with the love of Jesus that the local community will defend us even if they don't acknowledge Jesus as Lord.

In this passage we see perfectly paralleled the joy of those who accept Christ and the tears of Christ for those who do not. It is a serious thing to reject Jesus and his offer of salvation.

Jesus expects us to be faithful with all he gives us.  Using a parable Jesus warns of harsh punishment for all who squander or hide away what God gives.  He promises generous eternal reward for all who are faithful.

When you truly meet Jesus and know his heart, Jesus will begin to transform your own heart. In time, old hurts can be forgiven, relationships healed and restored, and the love of Christ can shine through you to those less fortunate. In the story of Zacchaeus we see power of the love of God transform a life.

In this message from Jesus we see the paradox of a man who can see but is blind and a blind man who can see. Can you see who Jesus is?

What stops people from seeing who Jesus really is: culture, worldview, pride? In this passage Jesus tells his disciples what following the will of the Father will cost him and the disciples cannot understand it. Now, we need to wrestle with what it means to follow after Jesus.

How should we view wealth? A sign of God's blessing, a curse, or maybe it doesn't mean anything? In this message Jesus points the way of salvation out to people of wealth.
