Christians are not under the Law - period. Yet, does this mean that Christians make no use of the law- Believing Bible teachers have debated this question since the Reformation. They've developed an understanding of three uses of the Law, and we're going to review them this morning.

When Jesus opens the sixth seal, absolute terror results- men will be -fainting from fear- -Lk 21-26-. The earth shakes underfoot and the sky proves unsure. In fact, so horrific are these events that many will think it's the end of the world, but this is only the sixth of seven seals, with numerous judgments yet to come. Doubt as to the nature of the time will vanish as the world grows convinced of biblical truth- yet, do the people cry out to God-

The way we as Christians should view the Law of Moses can be confusing. Perhaps that's why false teachers take advantage of it through their strange interpretations. The Apostle Paul wants Timothy and the rest of his readers to know how to use the Law legitimately in the passage we begin to examine this morning.

It's easy to see the direction of the world and despair, but the persecuted of any era find their strength renewed by considering the Lord's control. We'll see that the Lord gathers His martyrs in heaven -v. 9-, the Lord will avenge them -v. 10-, and the Lord has a limit to the number of martyrs that will exist in heaven -v. 11-. Let's consider His sovereignty together.

We saw last time that we have to confront false teachers, but what is the goal in doing so- The admonition from last week must be read in the light of love. More than that, we're considering how we are teach others in general. We'll then note how the instruction of false teachers contrasts to our commitments as a church. So, let's consider our manner of instruction together
