Isaiah 2:1 - 4:6 - The Proud Will Be Humbled (2:17)

In this utterance, Isaiah reminds people what happens to the proud and seemingly powerful.  Our attempts at self-importance are insignificant next to serving Him.  God as always, offers hope.

After the arrest of Jesus confusion and fear seized the disciples.  Peter’s response becomes a key point in the utter abandonment of Jesus.  Though he was passionate, he ended up giving in to his fear.

This passage covers the celebration of Passover, the institution of the Lord’s Supper, and the prediction of Peter’s denial. We will reflect on these moments in remembrance of Palm Sunday.

Mark 13:24-37 is the second half of the Olivet Discourse. Jesus changes the focus from Temple’s destruction to his ultimate return. This teaching has led to much confusion especially when he tells us “This generation will not pass away.”
