Title: Unoffendable
Text: Genesis 4:2-11
Main Idea: Offenses are inevitable, but with God’s HELP we can choose to be Unoffendable.
I. Offenses are Inevitable But We’re Not Entitled to Give or Take Offense! (Gen 4:2-5, Mt 5:22)
- Offenses are one of Satan’s biggest tools against us
- Destructive to Family, Siblings, and Brothers and sisters in Christ
- Can be legitimate or a grievance-God has a better way to give us freedom
- Jesus is our great example (1 Peter 2:24)
II. Offendable Makes Us Vulnerable (Gen. 4:6-8)
- Sin crouches like a lion at our door
- This lion’s desire is for you and your family! (1 Peter 5:8)
- The Results are like a raging river and affect everyone around us- The root of bitterness (Heb. 12:15)
- God has a better way! (v. 7a)
III. Good News! With God’s Grace We Can Master It (Gen 4:9-10)
- Choose to! The response of an obedient heart to God (Heb 11:4)
- Own that we are our brother’s keeper
- Move quickly to heal the offense - (Mt 5:23)
- Run to the Lord for grace and healing and perspective - Jesus paid it all!
Conclusion – What do you want to be remembered for? A powerful life or a destructive life? Abel still speaks today!
