Title: Faith Waits
Text: 1 Cor 11:17-34
Main Idea-God calls His Church to Biblical Justice which only flows from a personal faith whose works are mercy, justice and walking humbly before God (Micah 6:8)
Jeremiah 22:33, Psalm 146:7-9
I. The Lord’s Table is For Remembering (v. 23-26)
- “Remembrance of Me”
- The Cross:
1. Vertical.. Love came down so we could be saved and lifted up
2. Horizontal; Jesus Out-stretched arms were for the whole world
- New Covenant- a New Humanity…God making His appeal through us!
II. The Lord’s Table is for Real Relationships (v. 27-31)
- Our relationship with Christ is not a “one and done” deal; He calls us to take up our cross; it is messy and often inconvenient but it is right!
- Relationships have to be eye ball to eye ball; the proof of our faith
III. The Lord’s Table is for Waiting (v. 33)
- Waiting for others is the cornerstone of justice-loving your neighbor as yourselves
- Waiting means considering, lifting up, honoring and advocating for
