Winning the Hearts of Home (Acts 10)

I. A God Worshiper (v.1-2)

II. Took Responsibility For His Household (v.33)

- The genuine mark of leadership is responsibility, not delegation.

- Take the responsibility to be the spiritual leader of your home.

- Lead your family like Christ leads the Church.

- God calls the whole household to do their part.

III. Consistency Gets God’s Attention (v.3-4)

- Consistently doing the right things sows seeds for a breakthrough harvest.

- Consistent in and content with God’s will for your life!

IV. Courageous and Obedient (v.5-8, 28, 46-47)

- Cornelius’s courage enabled the Gospel to come to the Gentile World.

- But first, God’s Spirit fell on his entire household because of his courage to lead the way.

Life in the Spirit - The Radical Middle (Acts 2:40-47)

I. The Spirit of God Comes to Give us Life in an Upside Down World (Acts 2:42)

- They personally experienced the life-changing love of God

- He transformed their Affections and Devotions

- He comes to bring Order and Sense in our lives

- We move from a Bad news to a Good News way of living

II. The Church Becomes A People for God’s Name (Acts 2:43-46)

- The Promise of the Father/Gift of the Spirit was the return of God’s Empowering Presence to His People (manifested as both good works and signs and wonders)

- The Future Had begun! (The Spirit empowered the church to carry out His mission with signs and wonders announcing that God was present to redeem and deliver for all)

- They were His Temple or Dwelling place and all qualified to the Priesthood in Jesus Name!

- Their lives testified of God’s love and transformation-Awe, Sharing, Together, Gladness and Sincerity, Miracles, and Praising God (praise initiates worship), this is so different from the culture of our world

III. The Lord Was Adding Daily (Acts 2:47)

- They had Favor with People and God

- God’s intent is to Add to your life and His Church

- Surrendering our lives to God makes available our entire being for His Empowering Presence (That’s the Radical Middle we were created for!)

The Promise of the Father (Acts 1:4-8)

I. The Promise of the Father (Acts 1: 4-8)

- Promised by the Prophet Joel (Acts 2:15-18)

- So important Jesus told the disciples to Go but Wait!

- So we can receive Holy Spirit Power to Accomplish His work

II. Jesus Pours out the Gift of the Spirit (Acts 2:1-4, 33)

- Jesus is the Baptizer, Healer, and Coming King

- A Gift after Salvation to open up new horizons in God

- Accompanied with speaking with other tongues; a sign we are empowered to witness

- Gateway to the Power and Vocal Gifts of the Spirit

III. God’s Promise for You and All Believers (Acts 2:37-40)

- A Spirit energized faith made to travel everywhere

- In Acts every time the Spirit of God is poured out on a group ALL are baptized, Pentecost, (Acts 4:31, 8:14-17, 10:46-48, 19:1-6)

- This Promise is for you and your children and all who are far off!

Why We Need the Holy Spirit in Our Life

Exodus 33:11-23

I. We Need a Personal Relationship with God (Exodus 33:11)

- The Holy Spirit is a Person (Jn. 14:16,17)

- He is our Helper and Advocate sent to us by the Father (Jn 16:5-15)

- The Holy Spirit Glorifies Jesus

II. We Need God to Go With Us (vs. 12-16)

- The Holy Spirit is a Presence

- Without God’s presence the Church is like other Organizations

- The Presence of the Holy Spirit Affects both Believers and Non Believers (1 Cor. 14:24-25)

III. We Need God’s Power to Accomplish His Work (vs. 19, Acts 1:8)

- The Holy Spirit is Power (Acts 1:8)

- God’s Power is a Sign that God’s Kingdom is here

- The Gifts of the Spirit Continue the Work of Jesus

- The Baptism in the Holy Spirit after Salvation Clothes us and Fills us with Power

The Heart Of Worship (Mark 14:1-11 (NIV))

The Person Who Has A Heart Of Worship:

I. Loves His Presence (14:3)

II. Is Different From The World (14:4-5, 10-11)

III. Is Known By God (14:6-9)

The Blessed Hope: The Second Coming of Jesus

Text: Titus 2:11-14

I. The Second Coming of Jesus is as Certain as His First Coming (Hebrews 9:27-28)

- Christ came the first time to bear our sins on the Cross

- God raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in Heaven

- Christ will come the Second time for Salvation (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18)

II. Our Resurrection is as Certain as His Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:16-24)

- Vs. 19 There is so much more to our salvation than in this life! Hoping only in Jesus in this life is pitiable..

- Because Christ has been Raised from death on the Cross, we too will be Resurrected!

- Christ is the First Fruits, then at His Coming those who belong to Him will be Raised (1 Corinthians 15:51-57)

III. Fixing Our Hope on His Coming Purifies Us (1 John 3:2-3)

- We are called to Fix our Hope on His coming so it becomes a defining True North of our life

- Fixing our hope on Him Purifies us ..so we want to know Him, have fellowship with Him, be Filled with the Spirit, Live godly lives,

- We can great confidence and hope when we fix our hope on the Blessed Hope!

The Full Assurance of Hope

Text: Hebrews 6:9-20

I. Hope, The Things that Belong to Salvation (vs. 9-12)

- Confident of Better things for you, things that belong to salvation

- God remembers your work and love (somebody prayed, worked, loved, witnessed)

- Show diligence, faith and patience to realize the full assurance of hope to the end

II. Our Hope is Built on the Character of God (vs. 13-17)

- God does not change

- He made a promise to Abraham and to Us, the Heirs of Promise (vs. 17)

- I will bless you and multiply you (Gal 3.9)

- God guaranteed His promise by an oath; He swore by Himself

III. Our Hope is Fastened to Where God Is (vs. 19-20)

- We have great confidence to seize the hope set before us

- Jesus Christ, the Resurrected one, lives to watch over us (Heb 4:15,16)

- This Hope is a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul
