Where you been, Derek? In this episode of DMIA, I sit down solo to talk about where I have been, what I have been up to, what I think of current affairs and a little overture about Lorenzo Lamas. It has been forever since I put a podcast out and I explain why. PLUS: Who am I endorsing for President? The answer will not surprise you.

Kelsey Caine is a comic, writer and provocateur based in New York City. Kelsey recently completed a run of shows wherein she played the character "Penis CK" - a parody of famous men who have committed unscrupulous acts but seemingly receive no punishment for it. Her act includes pulling out a mock penis and jerking it off in front of audience members in order to raise awareness of sexual predation. She has received a lot of criticism for the act which she addresses by sitting down and talking with me about her own sexual assault, her experience doing the act and the blowback it's received - most notably from other comics. She also talks the upsides of her work and who it has helped. It was a super interesting and enlightening chat!

Molly is a comic, writer and camping averse person who came by Hump Rich studios to discuss  comedy bookings, how it feels to be a woman who gives no fucks and the normalcy of being roofied. Molly comes from a military parent so I break down how the Navy works in Game Of Thrones terms, she gives me pause regarding men in the workplace and she rolls her eyes at the idea of "athletic shoes."  Check out episode 57: "No F**ks Given" on iTunes, Spotify or GooglePlay! On my podcast "Derek Mansplains It All" I have the honor of speaking with Dr. Danielle Berke. She is a clinical psychologist who has worked with veterans of the US Military whose work has focused on veteran identity issues and moral PTSD. Dr. Berke and I sit down to talk about her background as a Jewish person not trusting the nation-state, the all encompassing nature of what it means to be a veteran and she calls me out on my bullshit! This has been one of my favorite episodes because I talk smack about Brooklyn hipster privilege, my minority status and I speak surprisingly favorably about marriage

I grew up Catholic in working class Ohio and we never discussed Judaism despite going to church for the majority of my life. Now that I am in the entertainment business, I am surrounded by them! One of them is my good bud and fellow comic Max Fine. He comes on the podcast to share his upbringing as a Southern Jewish man and how it has left him at odds with himself, his family and his culture. I share some insights into how I discovered the nuances of the religion and show my ignorance on a lot of religion!

Having a very thoughtful demeanor, Tawanda and I discuss the nuance of cultural identity, rejecting racism via Will Smith and how Kind Bars are just candy! Sopan Deb is a culture reporter for The New York Times, writing about the intersection of politics and culture, among other topics. Before joining The Times, he covered Donald J. Trump's presidential campaign for CBS News.His work has previously appeared on NBC, Al Jazeera America and The Boston Globe, ranging from examining the trek of endangered manatees to following a class of blind filmmakers in Boston led by the former executive producer of "Friends."

Emily Flake is a cartoonist, writer, comedian, mom and all around badass. On today's episode of Derek Mansplains It All, Emily talks to me about her inspiration for her work in the New Yorker, Mad Magazine and how to deal with a confident man. We learn about our mutual  interest of dock work, discuss toxic masculinity, what entails "whiteness" and what it means to be an "alpha." Emily is super imaginative, quick witted and very smart so I had a ton of fun listening to her perspective on the current state of culture.
