Great Hang! with Derek Humphrey episodes

  • Ep. 12 "Curvey Swords" w/Narinder Singh
Growing up, when I saw a turban I assumed the person wearing it was Muslim. Bugs Bunny cartoons, black and white movies and Aleister Crowley stories depicted a certain perception of some Middle Eastern religions but Narinder Singh comes into the studio to talk about Sikhism and it's distinct difference from Islam. Narinder discusses his fondness of Joel Osteen and how now matter your religious background you can still get a backhand from your mother. Listen to "Curvey Swords" on Derek Mansplains It All!

  • Ep. 11 "Mixed Bloods" w/Adam Mamawala
Imagine being born near Mumbai. Where do you think you would find your love in life? You would guess that it would probably be pre-arranged. You would probably think that you will never leave. Could you ever guess that the one you meet would be someone completely disparate from you in a small Wisconsin town, literally half a world away? That is what Adam Mamawala's father probably never suspected but it ended up happening anyways. And because of it, we have Adam, his new album on Comedy Dynamics, "One Of The Good Ones"; and the latest episode of Derek Mansplains It All.

  • Ep. 10: "Sugar P***y" w/Wendi Starling
What kind of feminist skips the Women's March? One that free bleeds at an Equinox, that is who! Wendi Starling is my good friend, comic, actor and all around life-enthusiast who also engages in the practice of "sugaring." For those like me who are not in the know, "sugaring" is a form of dating where one partner takes care of the other financially and the other takes care their partner sexually. This culture is fascinating to me given the intricacies of women's empowerment and the #metoo movement.

  • Ep. 9: "Losing My Religion" with Brooke Arnold
Remember the Duggar family? The Quiverfull religion? Christianity can be interpreted many different ways and one man found a way to convince an entire group of people to ditch formal education, cultural marriage norms and interpret the Bible in his own way to create an uneducated mob. Brooke Arnold is a survivor of a movement that captured the Bible belt by storm and lives to tell her tale on "Losing My Religion" on DEREK MANSPLAINS IT ALL

  • Ep. 8: "The Nuance of Sexual Misconduct" w/Erin Lynn O'Connor
Erin Lynn O'Connor is a New York based comic. In the wake of the #metoo movement, Erin and I sit down for DEREK MANSPLAINS IT ALL and talk about sexual assault/misconduct, quitting drinking and healthy lifestyles in comedy and our respective, horrible dating experiences. This episode was recorded at @qedastoria studios by the illustrious @chrisgersbeck. Check out "The Nuance of Sexual Misconduct w/Erin Lynn O'Connor

  • Ep. 7: "Trans-Chilupa" w/Mark Reiss
Mark Reiss is an LA born, Virginia raised and now New York resident comic. Mark has come to the conclusion that they are transitioning from male to female, an awareness that they say has been coming for some time now. I have never talked to someone who has ever had this realization or the tenacity to pursue this venture in life. The episode is very interesting as I learn the thought process of someone experiencing this, basically, in real time. Mark is still figuring out a lot of this on their own so we are lite on humor and a lot going on in intrigue.

  • Ep. 6: "One Stereotype To Rule Them All" with Usama Siddiquee
Usama Siddiquee is a Canadian born, Texas raised, Bangladeshi comic in New York City. Usama is one of the hardest working, fastest rising comics working today. We sat down and discussed his upbringing, the perceptions and challenges he faced as a brown person in Texas plus we talk the nuances of Islam and how we all, regardless of religion, chase one thing: sweet, sweet ass. Check out "One Stereotype To Rule Them All" from Derek Mansplains It All

  • Ep. 5: "Communist Playgrounds" with Boris Khaykin
Boris Khaykin is a straight, white male (oh no!) BUT....he is different than me in that he was born Jewish under the Communist Regime of the USSR during the Cold War and immigrated to America in the 90's. We talk about Russian culture, our perceptions of our respective backgrounds and how Russian playgrounds rooted out the weak, inferior children unworthy of fleeing their country.

  • Ep. 3: "Harv As a Rock" with Anne Victoria Clark
I talk with comedian, writer (contributor to SNL) and tour mate Anne Victoria Clark about her being a viral sensation, Harvey Weinstein, getting quoted by The Rock Dwayne Johnson and my bike getting stolen! Also, I introduce a new segment called "Ask A White Man" and we both fail to plug our show this weekend the PIT in NYC!!! Fun times!!!

  • Ep. 2: "Flower Of the Prarie" with Jeffrey Joseph
Jeffrey Joseph is one of the most accomplished comics and actors that I have ever had drinks with. His extensive resume includes roles on the "Sopranos", "Family Ties", movies like "Scrooged", "Made In America" and "Dave." As a comic he's appeared on the Tonight Show, Night Train with Wyatt Cenac and written for In Living Color. But what I am most impressed by Jeffrey is his work outside of the entertainment business, assisting at risk youth at Riker's Island Penitentiary in New York City.
For anyone who's ever been to jail or are familiar with the penal and judicial system (*ahem*, me) you know that prison is a vortex that swallows lives up whole and never relinquishes them. Most people don't experience it and instead of thumbing his nose at helping others, Jeffrey dived right in to assist. We talk about that on the latest episode of Derek Mansplains It All.
