Today's quote comes from a relatively obscure source in that the person who said it is not a famous person, nor is the quote itself famous. However, it is a great quote, as it pertains to being open to learning from other sources and the importance of having mentors in our lives to help us become the best we're capable of becoming.
I talk about internet marketing guru Jeff Walker for the first few minutes of the episode as the person from whom I heard the quote, though he is actually quoting someone else—Joy Foster—who said this quote. If you want to hear Jeff Walker discuss the quote on his video blog, click here to be taken to his video from February 17, 2022 or go to jeffwalker.com/writer-downer-post.

Today's quote comes to us from a more obscure source. His name is Howard Hendricks. He was a professor at the Dallas Theological Seminary. I read the quote in a great book by Mark Miller called, "Smart Leadership."
The quote is actually not even by Howard Hendricks. While Hendricks is a professor himself, his quote comes from one of his college professors, who, unfortunately, doesn't get named as the originator of the quote. It's a shame because this quote is so powerful that I would like to be able to attribute it to the exact source.
Anyway, check out the episode to hear this quote and how you can use it in your own life and in the lives of those you lead!

I purposefully did not put the name of the person in the title of todays' episode because some people might not listen if they see who said it. That would be a shame because the quote is an all-time great quote, and it's one that you need to hear and then listen to the ideas about it in order to help you and your teams become the best you're capable of becoming.
That's all I'm going to write about this episode here. Listen to the episode and focus on the concept of the quote more than the person who said it (if you're someone who struggles with this person). If you're a fan of this person, you'll probably like the quote even more.

Today's quote comes to us from a world I am not involved in at all - the world of opera. It is by an American opera singer named Robert Breault. In doing research for today's episode, I found out that Robert Breault has A LOT of great quotes for us, and I believe I will be returning to him for quotes in future episodes.
Today's quote is about the world of goals and goal-setting. Breault opens our eyes to a problem that many of us have in reaching our goals, and most of us never even realize that we have this problem happening to us while we are not achieving what we want to achieve.
Great quote here that helps remind us to stay focused on what we really want and not to let ourselves get pulled down the wrong paths on the way to our goals.

Today's episode is focused on a quote by Mike Krzyzewski, better known as Coach K, the men's basketball coach at Duke University. After 42 years of coaching at Duke, he is retiring at the end of this season.
He was honored this past Saturday evening after his final home game at Cameron Indoor Stadium with a very nice ceremony. At the ceremony, Nina King, the director of athletics, was one of a few administrators to speak and honor Coach K.
During her speech, she read the quote in today's episode about the five qualities that all great teams have. The quote is actually from Coach K's book, Leading with the Heart, one of my favorite books ever, and a book I highly recommend you read. In this episode, I read the quote from the book, as well as quite a few others from the chapter on Teamwork where the original quote is found.

Great quote here today from Napoleon Hill's book Think & Grow Rich on the concept of what does and doesn't make for a great leader. Too many supposed "leaders" are only leaders because of a rank or title. True leaders lead not from a title or position but from their hearts.

Today I discuss two quotes on improvement. The first one is from American businessman, Arnold Glasow. The second one is from James Clear, the author of the outstanding book, Atomic Habits. Both quotes focus on what's most important when it comes to improving oneself.

Today's show is about an obscure quote. It is not a quote that you will find in any of the usual places you would look up famous quotes because it is not a famous quote. It came from Angela Duckworth's outstanding book, Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.
In the book, Duckworth talks about meeting Pete Carroll, the head coach of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. She is visiting him to see how he is using the elements of grit that he read in her book and studied in other areas to create the team culture he seeks with the Seahawks.
The quote is what he said to her when he first greeted her. It is such a simple statement, and yet, it is one that if we all approached every meeting and every relationship we had with others in this way, our world and their worlds would be so much better.

The quote for our second episode of Season 4 of the show comes from Teddy Roosevelt. I have used this quote for many years, but ironically, I never knew this quote came from him. I thought it was one of those that was from an anonymous source.
I actually heard it a few days ago from leadership guru, John Maxwell, in his book, Winning with People. I love everything I read/listen to by John Maxwell, and after hearing him say it in that book, I figured maybe he was the originator of the quote. But in doing my research for this episode, I came to find out it actually was Teddy Roosevelt.
No matter who said it, it's a great one, and I know you're going to love it. (In fact, you've probably heard it before, and you already love it!)
