Ava is turned into a hybrid. Half wolf-half vampire. She has two men that wants her. Lucas the vampire, and Jack the werewolf. She merges with Jack. She can turn into a wolf and she has to drink every so often to survive. Lucas and Jack are brothers. Ava is targeted by witches and other werewolves. They believe that she is an abomination. Will she survive to have a life with Jack? Will the witches and other werewolves kill her? Silver and wolfsbane can't kill her. Read book to find out what happens. Great story.

I liked it a lot

I actually liked this book a lot. I expected it to be predictable but it wasn't.

Ava, a nineteen year old with a rough past, is bitten by a vampire and turned into a werewolf on the same night. She is found by Jack, the alpha male of her future pack, who turns out to be her other "half" . Her presence in the pack attracts a group of evil werewolves who wish for her to create more hybrids like her.

I found that sometimes the descriptions were a little pointless and there was the occasional grammar/ spelling error. But overall a great book, worth my money! Appropriate for early teens to young adults.

Such hope....fail

I'm so disappointed! The description for this book had me expecting so much. Was super excited by the plot of the book, only to start reading it and find that the author must have been in a tearing hurry when writing it. It just felt so.....rushed. The story lacked feel, vague descriptions, easy life altering acceptances, old story plots mashed into quick chapters. I barely got through half the book and just couldn't continue. The author has great imagination but needs to work on world and character building.

Eeehhh ... nah

I liked the premise of the book. The story line was good, but a bit too much angst in Ava. The love triangle between Luke, Jake, and Ava was a bit much. I felt like this book was a slow and uninspiring read. I am sorry Madeline. I alao think there was too much of a similar thread in the book, "Matefinder." Although, the hybrid angle is a good one. Just not sure how much farther you can take it.

Surprisingly delightful

Things progress quite smoothly. It was a very good read. Many different elements were combined almost flawlessly.

I definitely recommend this book.

Slow but satisfying

In Dreams and Shadows, Jeffrey Collyer takes his main character, a young man named Michael, on a long, arduous journey, and us right along with him.

For years, Michael has lived with the feeling that he doesn't quite belong. Then, one day, he is transported to the land of Aylosia, a land fraught with dangers that seem to follow him wherever he goes. Caught in the middle of a centuries-old conflict between two tribes, Michael discovers not only that he is suspected of being more than he says he is - more, indeed, than even he knows, but that things in this land are not quite what they seem.

I won't lie to you - it took me a long time to get through this book. To call Michael's journey "epic" is an understatement, and we take every step of that journey with him. Unfortunately, when combined with the many instances of introspection, self-doubt and constant guilt, made the pace of the story very slow. I am happy to report, however, that the ending was very satisfying and entertaining, so I still give it my recommendation.

Solid, clean, and EPIC!

Dreams and Shadows begins by plunging you into a mysterious, revealing scene. If you are paying attention, you learn tons about Michael - his deepest fears, his past, his longing for a connection with his mother. As I continued to read, I really liked this guy! What's not to love? He's a book nerd who works in a library! I've already begun to connect with him when the serious things start to go down. At the end of chapter three, I was hooked, frantically turning pages while mentally coaxing myself to slow down and appreciate the beauty of this writing. I rarely use the word refreshing when it comes to a book, but it was! A perfect summer read. (Don't let that stop you from enjoying it during any other season.)

It took me a few pages to get in sync with Collyer's tone and cadence, but when it happened, I was sailing along quite enjoyably. I also struggled with keeping some of the characters separate in my mind. This is an issue I have just in my brain, so it isn't something that surprising to me. If you are like me though, you may find yourself flipping back a couple of times to remind yourself of who did or said what.

The beginning of each chapter features an excerpt from The Wisdom of Ashael - an ancient text created by the writer to facilitate the story.

Feels like an Unfinished Work

I started this book, novella, not sure how to categorize it, because the review I read promised to explain how Dirk Blackthorn and Krentz met. I'm not sure it lived up to it because it left the reader hanging. I know I didn't pay much for this ebook, but I certainly got what I paid for. I was reading along and enjoying every word, when, wham! it ended at about 80%. The last 20% promos two of his other books. Blackthorn Rising: Legends of Agora does detail the separate early lives of Dirk and the Black Elf, Krentz, but there is no satisfaction in how they got together and entwined their lives. I guess I'm being a spoiler, but this book deserves to have a spoiler. So reader beware! If you are really curious about Dirk and Krentz, let the author know that he needs to finish this work. Maybe that is why it is called "Legends of Agora," but if this is a serial, it should make that clear.

I'm disappointed because I have read all the series of Whill of Agora and I know that the author has a fantastic mind. However, once this short book was released unfinished, he seems to be jumping from one project to another without much thought. Is there more to come about Dirk and Krentz?

This is ANOTHER great read from Mr. Ploof

Well readers if you want an extraordinary great read, this is it.

I've read all his books, some twice, and anyone who likes Fantasy genres MUST read this book. The storyline is always original, it's his forte. The characters are so REAL due to Mr. Ploof's abundant talent.

Dirk and Krentz are the characters that you'll enjoy getting to know. (Krentz has appeared in previous Ploof reads) but her role in this story, to newcomers, is really like she's just come into being for this story.

You'll be amazed how these two characters wage a fight between good, not so good and down right EVIL!

When your done with this amazing story, go back and read Ploof's other GREAT reads. Will Of Agora would be a perfect place to start.

Couldn't put it down!

I blazed through this book because I couldn't put it down. The main character was very appealing to me and I loved watching his development. Simply getting into his head was enjoyable as he set his goals and puzzled out how to achieve them.

Not my genre but pleasantly surprised

What did you love best about Witches of Denmark?

I love any story that the narrator brings to life. The narrator did just that.

Several but the grandmother. I liked her attitude about life and problems.

This is not a book that I would normally listen to, but my wife talked me into it. I was surprised how I got into it after a while. The narrator made it very believable.

What a Fun Story!

I had read this book a while back and definitely enjoyed the read. However, going back and listening to the book was a wonderful experience! The characters in this book are so rich, and it seems that the narrator did a great job of bringing them to life. There is so much subtle humor in the story, as well as a well- told tale, as is always the case with Aiden James. Listening to the book was a great experience that I highly recommend!

Hook's little mermaid

What made the experience of listening to Hook's Little Mermaid the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed this audiobook Hooks Little MermaidI really liked the spin Suzanna Lynn created, keeping true to the age old story while putting her own imagination in the world of Neverland! The writing was good giving me a good pirate feel to the first person narrative. (I was totally picturing the guy who played captain hook in Once Upon a Time.

Cute twist on fairy tales

I enjoyed listening to this fairy tale. It was a cute twist of stories that I partially knew. I had never thought of Captain Hook from Peter Pan as a good guy or knowing the little mermaid. This book was not in my normal listening genre, but I found it very enjoyable. Clean listen and appropriate for most ages. The narrator did a very good performance. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.

great back story on the infamous captain hook

I highly enjoyed this book. it was a light and quick listen but still worth the read. I found the backstory pretty great. although I wonder why the names Ursula and Ariel weren't used? maybe copyright issues?

I love retelling or the other side of things point of view. this is a book I would listen to again.

Great Fairy-tale Mashup. I Love Hook!

This story is plain and simply fun. The narrator, James Darcy, does a nice job bringing the characters to life. You will enjoy reading this story.

Fast reader

I think this may have been one of the first books read by this narrator. He speaks very quickly, though still clearly. I think a more seasoned reader would have read this book in 5 hours.

That said, he did a good job with various voices.

It was a gift.

Lore from the sea

Small and full of lore this book tells a darker story of finding the truth that fits. The story is set on an island that is isolated and as only isolated places can be full of stories to explain odd happenings.

Neen is 12 years old and our narrator. As she is coming of age she struggles with her mother's disappearance and her own skin condition. Her Aunt has separated them from the town and they live a relatively isolated life. This was a slow story and darker than I would have expected from a child narrator. I enjoyed that the story did not take the mythical mermaid story and turn it into more than a story.

The sea in this story is almost a character in and of itself and the setting was magical while still being very real. I am glad I pick this book up to read, but I'm not sure I'll be reading more by the author. It is different from what I normally enjoy and while good it was a little dark for my current taste.

This book just really disappointed me. The plot moved very slowly, but it didn't really seem to pick up or go anywhere. And it seemed like Braxton-Smith was creating a bunch of blocks for a bigger story arc, but they didn't really go anywhere. It sort of felt like a series of vingettes, but it didn't really work for me.

I did like how the characters interacted with different, seemingly conflicting views of religion and the world and the presences of the snarky, holier-than-thou monks. A few of the characters were interesting in themselves, and I would have liked to see more of them instead of reading the story as it was.

Despite that, I don't think I would recommend it to another reader-- especially one looking forward to a story about mermaids.

Beautifully written! A gorgeous read.
