    Different and fun
Would you listen to Dragon's Heart again? Why?
Yes, maybe right before book 2 comes out, so I can binge. I loved the narrators voice.
What other book might you compare Dragon's Heart to and why?
Maybe the Lost Shards series by Charlie Pulsipher. It has the same type of rich storyline (more gradual world building) and the innocence of the main characters is similar. The stories themselves are nothing alike, merely saying that if you liked the style, you'll probably like it in both.
Which character as performed by Karen-Eileen Gordon was your favorite?
Serena, or maybe the queen. They're both pretty awesome.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes!
    Any additional comments?
It's been awhile since I've indulged in a YA fantasy, because they are becoming way too much alike. Dragons Heart is in a class of its own.
    Book 1
What made the experience of listening to Dragon's Heart the most enjoyable?
I am new to Michelle Rabe and this is the first audiobook of hers that I have listened . Serena and Killian are lifelong friends who fall in love with each other with one problem . He is in line to be king and she is a commoner who doesnt know her back ground. Outside forces conspire against the couple to tear them apart. The story is written in a beautifully classic love story in such a way that you feel all the emotions her characters are going through.
    For love or duty
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes this was an incrediblely thought out story.
What did you like best about this story?
Serena and Killian are adorable and there is never a time in the story that you don't hope for their relationship and happiness.
Which character as performed by Karen-Eileen Gordon was your favorite?
Karen-Eileen Gorden was fantastic in all the characters. Her performance was great no matter who she was portraying and she really made the entire thing come to life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Duty of the heart
    Any additional comments?
This story was fantastic. There were many moments that fueled emotional responses, some were harder to deal with than others. It did leave the story on a bit of a cliff hanger and there were a number of things left unresolved. This story has you rooting for the couple from the beginning and your heart aches for the choices they have to make because of their duty. They have many conflicts but at the same time their bond is strong because their feelings were firmed long before the story started. It is a great story and worth a credit. I received this audiobook for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.
    Very very good!
I really enjoyed this book and I bought the next one in the series. It was entertaining and I couldn't put it down.

    Publisher's Summary:
A near-tragic incident at the hands of his psychotic mother left Declan Peters alone and with so many questions.
Years later Declan is determined to find a way to be closer to his mother and takes a job at the institution where she's being held. That fateful decision will be the impetus for a chain of events so terrifying that Declan will question his own grasp on reality.
What he finds will be more horrifying than anything he's ever experienced and more dangerous than anything he's yet known. In a place rife with demonic possession and sadistic beings, will Declan finally be able to find the answers he's longed for before it's too late, or will he succumb to the evil forces that inhabit the institution and all who live there?
    Members Reviews:
    Loved!!
When Declan was young, his mother went mad and tried to drown him. She was put into an institution and has spent years there. Now David, who was raised by his aunt and uncle, works in the same institute and it's this job that will nearly be the death of him. It's here he meets someone who may be able to answer his question on why a perfectly ordinary woman can go crazy in an instant. But the answer may lead to his own sanity being questioned!
I have to say that for such a short book, this sure does pack a punch!! It felt like the book was double the length as so much happened. I thoroughly enjoyed this!!
Declan was a great character. His mother tried to kill him yet he harbours her no ill will. He wants to try to understand why she did it and to build a relationship with her. He is truly just a nice guy! I was rooting for him the whole way through.
The plot of this was gripping, chilling and oh so thrilling. We enter a world filled with demons, demon hunters, nephilim and other nasties and the author captures the darkness perfectly. I listened to the audio of this in a day!! The author made the idea of demonic possession so scary and something that could happen. While reading it, I had chills at parts and it brought me back to my childhood when I snuck up late and watched The Exorcist. I had nightmares for months after that!!! This book had the same feel as that.
In all, a book that will stay with me. I devoured it and can't wait for more!!
Ben Kass did a really good job of capturing the feel of the book. He knew when to ramp up the tension and brought the story alive.
*I received a copy of this for review. This in no way affected my thoughts.*
    The hours fly by!
I listened to this audiobook on multiple shorter flights, and I almost wished the flights were a bit longer so I could keep on listening! I liked every character (which doesn't happen often for me), but Declan really shines the most. He is characterized so genuinely, and he is such a good guy that you can't help but like him. Moreover, the story is really captivating and it flows at the perfect pace. I wouldn't mind listening to this title more than once.
As for the narration, Ben Kass' performance is highly entertaining and superbly done. The narration truly brought every character, situation, and circumstance to life as the story unfolded. I did not want this book to end!
If you're a fan of stories involving demons and exorcisms you should check out In the Eyes of Madness. I can't emphasize enough how well done this audiobook is.

    Publisher's Summary:
Micheline Helsing is a tetrachromat - a girl who sees the auras of the undead in a prismatic spectrum. As one of the last descendants of the Van Helsing lineage, she has trained since childhood to destroy monsters both corporeal and spiritual. The corporeal undead go down by the bullet, the spiritual undead by the lens. With an analog SLR camera as her best weapon, Micheline exorcises ghosts by capturing their spiritual energy on film.
She's aided by her crew: Oliver, a technowhiz and the boy who developed her camera's technology; Jude, who can predict death; and Ryder, the boy Micheline has known and loved forever. When a routine ghost hunt goes awry, Micheline and the boys are infected with a curse known as a soulchain. As the ghostly chain spreads through their bodies, Micheline learns that if she doesn't exorcise her entity in seven days or less, she and her friends will die. Now pursued as a renegade agent by her monster-hunting father, Leonard Helsing, she must track and destroy an entity more powerful than anything she's faced before - or die trying.
Lock, stock, and lens, she's in for one hell of a week.

    Great clean fun
Ghost aren't usually my thing, Zombies are!
However I really enjoyed this world. Jude, Micheline, Ryder & the rest of the gang are pretty bad ass.
The book would be great for teens. No sex & no cursing that I can remember.
The world created is very well fleshed out. I love that the Van Helsing, Harker & other vampire genre lineage fill up the cast. There is even a sweet love story for all the romantics. I am pretty certain there could be a sequel continuing this story line or creating a new one. Not to say there is a cliff hanger because it is pretty well wrapped up only a few ends not so tightly wrapped.
Courtney is set to be a great story teller & I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
Pamela did an excellent job as narrator.

    Utterly Wonderful
Shutter is modern day Gothic horror at its best. Quick to pull me in and keep me enthralled with moody language and hauntingly creepy scenes.
Micheline Helsing is a part of the legendary Helsing corporation which takes on the undead head first. Shes headstrong and a bit brash, and after some rather horrifying events of her past she wants to prove to herself and others that she can hold the Helsing name on her shoulders. She is also tetrachromat, meaning she can see ghost light and tell what sort of undead she and her team will be dealing with. I found everything about the technical aspects fascinating; from the ghost light to the use of mirrors and silver in luring and trapping the entities. There is a bit of a romance angle, and in a gothic horror thats to be expected, but it is one that hogs bunch of page time. Instead we get plenty of time to see them work together and build upon their relationship slowly. I really love Ryder ad Micheline together. They both know their strengths and their weaknesses, and despite the danger around them they know that they are both capable hunters. Thats really I ever ask of romance in YA.

    Great ending to the series!
Ahhh. Sometimes you just need a book that's entertaining. This was it. A great ending to the series! It comes out in English in the fall, but since I read German, I was able to read the original. (I'll be buying it in English, too, as my girls love the series and don't speak German.)
Things I love about these books:
The main character. Seriously. I've read a lot of books where the main character is sort of a blank slate. Gwenny (Gwendolyn/Gwyneth, depending on which language you're reading it in) has an actual personality. She's funny! And lets you know everything else she's feeling, too. It was very fun to hang out in her head.
Leslie, her best friend. One of my favorite best friends in a book. She's funny, she's supportive, and she does stuff. She's also not above telling Gwen when she's over dramatizing things.
All the ghosts. I love how Gwen is friends with them, the interaction between them, and well, Xemerius's running commentary, lol.
The fact that Gwen has an actual family that she interacts with. Of course I love to hate Aunt Glenda and Charlotte and feel put off by frosty Lady Arista. But the rest of them! I love the feeling of them all hanging out together, secretly having cake parties or whatever. I love her grandfather. I love the butler. A lot of YA books feature characters who are really alone (probably because it's hard to keep track of a lot of characters when you're writing). But the truth is, teens are surrounded by people, and usually do have families. Ditto, I love it that there are some nice people at the secret lodge, too (like Mr. George).
The way the author makes you love and hate a certain green-eyed De Villiers boy. Really, I didn't know how she was going to turn that one around! But she did.
This is the book where you get answers about all those strange mysteries from the first two books (what did Gwen have to do with Gideon getting hit over the head in a dark alley? Why did she see herself kissing Gideon in her school building? What is the real story about Paul, Lucy, the chronograph, and all the mysterious prophecies?) There's one element that the reader should have figured out by now that Gwen learns in this book, and it plays out nicely. But there are also some surprises in store...
A wonderfully fun read full of humor, romance, mystery, and time travel.
Am completely obsessed with this series... bought the German book because I couldn't wait for the English translation
This trilogy -- Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green -- is the best thing I've read since Twilight and Harry Potter.

    A good listen!
I really enjoyed listening to this story.. it was so good. Full of action and some funny moments and dialogue. What made it really enjoyable was the narrators telling the story. They did it well. The action scenes were described well , I could imagine it better than if I read the book by myself. So really well done .
I also liked that this book had Ringers p.o.v. Bens p.o.v. Evan walker's p.o.v. Sams. p.o.v. and of course Cassies. whos story was my favourite part.
The ending was not what I expected and it was sad but I understand why it happened the way it did.
I'm kind of sad that it's over. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters in their point of view for a few chapters.
Even though I didn't read the infinite sea at all , I could still figure out what happened. it was easy to catch up.
Overall it was well written, well read and enjoyable. Can't wait for the movies. . !
    Great trilogy!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. This is a great trilogy.

Length: 12 hrs and 13 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-24-16
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 26 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
One Breath is a gripping and powerful exploration of the strange and fascinating sport of freediving, and of the tragic, untimely death of America's greatest freediver.
Competitive freediving - a sport built on diving as deep as possible on a single breath - tests the limits of human ability in the most hostile environment on earth. The unique and eclectic breed of individuals who freedive at the highest level regularly dive hundreds of feet below the ocean's surface, reaching such depths that their organs compress, light disappears, and one mistake could kill them.
Even among freedivers, few have ever gone as deep as Nicholas Mevoli. A handsome young American with an unmatched talent for the sport, Nick was among freediving's brightest stars. He was also an extraordinary individual, one who rebelled against the vapid and commoditized society around him by relentlessly questing for something more meaningful and authentic, whatever the risks. So when Nick Mevoli arrived at Vertical Blue in 2013, the world's premier freediving competition, he was widely expected to challenge records and continue his meteoric rise to stardom. Instead, before the end of that fateful competition Nick Mevoli had died, a victim of the sport that had made him a star, and the very future of free diving was called into question.
With unparalleled access and masterfully crafted prose, One Breath tells his unforgettable story, and of the sport which shaped and ultimately destroyed him.

    Members Reviews:
Plot is teenagers making out. Oh my gosh, they're so hot it says - over and over and over and...
I enjoyed the first book, and this is tolerable to get through when you read of the other characters - although I had to skim over A LOT. The plot seems to be 'he is so hot. Oh my gosh, he is so hot. We are so hot. We are making out. ohhh, let's make out. Yes, we are going to make out' Yuck, I feel like I just read a 16 year old's diary, a really immature 16 year old's diary.
I feel that the author is presenting the main character as immature because the plot says this is her first life to remember, and so she is immature in comparison to the authors. However, this was presented as an immature girl by the normal world's standards. So, we get to be thrown into a world with a teenager annoying pain in the butt. Yep, just what I wanted for my fantasy realm.
The series story line also seemed to take a bender. You have characters that remember all of their lives from long long ago. The two main characters are presented as old fashioned and choose to have sex after marriage. They harp on it (see plot of book in paragraph 1 of review). This trend started fairly recently in society and would not apply. I suspect that the author is Christian and somehow wanted to write that all should wait for sex until after marriage. She fit it into the series - the entire Book 2.
    Soul Mates Rock!!
Maryah is still trying to grasp that she's part of a kindrily, her memories are gone so she is desperate to figure out what is right in her life but Nathaniel feels right. As she tries to remember her past to help bring back a member that was kidnapped she realizes she may not want him to come back.
This is an excellent story it has all the elements I love, the guy loves the girl, the guy does whatever he can for the girl, super natural. Yeah I love it all especially soul mates I supremely am a sucker for soul mates. There is just something about that forever type of love that I just go gah gah for.
This far along in the story Maryah has a grasp of who she was and is if she could just remember. I liked her character she settled into her new family quite well this time around. && of course her love for Nathan has shown up and I love it. Nathan is such a sweet old soul that you can help but want to swoon over his gentlemanly ways. He is so patient with Maryah and making this experience for her new and fresh.

    Publisher's Summary:
Tell the Wind and Fire is about a young girl called Lucie who lives in a New York very different from the New York we know: The city is torn between two very different kinds of magic, and Lucie's own family was torn apart years ago by that conflict. Lucie wears magic rings and carries a burden of guilt she can't share with anyone. The light in her life is her sweetheart boyfriend, Ethan, but it turns out Ethan has a secret, too: a soulless doppelganger created by dark magic.

Not a fan of this one
I have enjoyed other work by this author, but this attempt at retelling A Tale of Two Cities was clumsy and downright boring in too many places. The last half especially was too much narrative "telling" to no purpose and not enough "showing" by character actions and dialogue. It came across as preaching social justice to the listener.
