This book has everything - shock, horror, comedy, tragedy, adventure, true crime, true love, gowns, rings, cakes, swans, in-laws, and outlaws. Everyone should read this compendium of wedding mayhem before they get married to gain perspective, rationality, and many, many laughs. Weddings bring out both the worst and best in people, and this book give many examples. This account of the house behind the story and TV drama of Evelyn Waugh's "Brideshead Revisited" follows the famous country manor house and occupants through a turbulent and fascinating history. Through anecdotal events and furnishings as artifacts, the place becomes a microcosm of English class culture before the wars, and its real life characters become as interesting and perhaps more believable than the resulting fiction and its actors.

Great Book!

This book is wonderful for anyone that is interested in Madresfield Court and with the Lygon family. The pictures were beautiful. If you have an interest in The Lygon Family or enjoy the story of Brideshead Revisited, I recommend this book.

Very interesting book if you are a fan of Evelyn Waugh and "Brideshead Revisited".

Interesting detailed account of the Earls Beauchamp

This book for me had just the right amount of detail and interest to read on to the end. I have always been interested in the Brideshead Revisited generation and bought the book primarily for the ending chapters about the last two Earls, but their ancient history was interesting to read.

The Men Don't Know (But The Ladies Get It)

"I Found All The Parts" encapsulates a fascinating journey of self-expression and discovery honed from numerous nights standing at the altar of "that band the author follows" and how those events caused author Laura Faeth to explore her existence and sense of self. As a fellow traveler on the decades long, strange road trip addicted to that same musical group, I was eager to delve into Ms. Faeth's fascinating take on life, love, lyrics and the nature of fandom. While the book might be a tad more satisfying to some readers had Ms. Faeth been able to name the objects of her affection, it is neither truly necessary to be a fellow follower of that act nor to even know who the band is to enjoy the author's crisp, jovial and often self-effacing banter.

We the readers have all likely experienced a fascination with some group or another who became our own personal rock gods, making the subject matter here universal. To my delight, I found the clever Ms. Faeth's faithful outing to be like that of a late evening chat with a beloved friend, one which recounts the trials of growing up "different" than other kids at that tender time in life when fitting in is all-important. Often during those challenging years, some of us fans fell in love with that great cavalcade of "non-threatening boys" featured in teen magazines, a phenomenon which has led me to ponder the nature of fandom and how it steers our youth, growth and understanding of the spiritual nature of unrequited love. As opposed to the myriad of trite and unseemly recountings of "groupies" (those young ladies who wished to sleep with their idols), "Found" instead illustrates the idyll of the artist/fan relationship. Throughout the history of rock'n'roll, millions of listeners have felt the healing effects of the music of their idols, yet rarely has anyone captured that sheer rapture more eloquently than does this author. Laura Faeth's trip through her metaphysical wonder world is unique, profound and never takes itself too seriously. "The men don't know but the little girls understand," it has been famously said. Too true.

Same incredible journey, different paths!

I am a retired high school history teacher, firmly rooted in the physical world. However, in desperation after several vivid dreams, I googled, "#12,#144,#21, soul recognition," and found Laura and the book. As I am just 'waking up,' synchronicity has crossed our paths. The fact that I've never been interested in Rock'n'Roll(I'm country) doesn't matter. We are on the same incredible journey although traversing different paths. My deep soul wound is surfacing and the knowledge in Laura's book is helping me recognize it for what 'it' is and deal with 'it' in the now.

Jewish guilt has nothing on Catholic guilt zealously applied

John Grogan's autobiography, THE LONGEST TRIP HOME, is his story of growing up Catholic - and then having to deal with it as an awkward teenager and maturing adult. His narrative is funny and poignant, and the experience all so true. I can attest to it.

Grogan spent his formative years in Detroit; I lived mine in Southern California. His parents were, perhaps by the standards of some, excessively devout in their religion; mine were less so, but we were regular church-goers and I was subject to 12 years of parochial education (grades 1-12). The Grogans had clerics over to dinner regularly; we but occasionally. John had a couple of priest uncles; I have only one cousin, whom I've never met, who's a Jesuit. The author's parish was Our Lady of Refuge; mine was Corpus Christi, then Our Lady of Malibu. John experienced First Confession, First Communion and was an altar boy; so did and was I. John once had prurient interest in a nun and developed an in-class woodie after undressing her in his mind's eye. What a perv! The only classroom authority figure I (and every other boy) lusted after was blonde and leggy Miss Loef, our fourth grade lay-teacher. She was an ex-stew from TWA. We were devastated when she dropped out to get married.

Jewish guilt has nothing on the Catholic version that is zealously applied.
