Small Community Life
I believe this book was well written from Chas Wienke's perspective. Having grown up in Slinger with the Wienke family, I did not agree with some aspects of the social interaction (or lack of) that Mr. Wienke experienced. My perspective of the community is of a close, caring group of families. Some of us were poor while others had it better, but that did not matter in forming friendships. I believe that we all were made to feel equal.
A Marvelous Trip Back in Time
Author Chas Wienke has a phenomenal recall of the events of the halcyon era we call the Boomer years. Even better, he has the gift of rendering these tales in an evocative, poignant style. Travel back in time with Chas and relive a time when America was still young and hopeful and the sky was the limit. Highly recommended.

Excellent book, full of tales of the Baby Boomer era
I met the author in person at a book signing - I wasn't sure I would like the book, but I do like to support "newer" authors, especially if they have something to say about their book other than "Buy my book!" I picked this up for a long plane flight, not knowing what to expect.
I was surprised to find I enjoyed this wonderful series of tales about the author growing up in the Midwest after WW2. It was full of short, poignant tales about his life with his family, experiencing the life of a small town in Wisconsin and living through the extensive changing times of then. Experiencing television, going to school, discussing religion, and a number of other stories from his generation. It's a heartfelt set of stories that will entertain you and bring back memories if you lived in that time period.
Mr. Wienke is an excellent author, and you could do worse than to buy his book. I did and I have never regretted it.
Quite Entertaining
As an avid reader, I really enjoyed this book! Although I was born a generation later, I really related to Chas' observations about the world changing around him. My favorite parts of the book were the stories about the adventures he had with his family and friends. In the interests of full disclosure, I will note here that the author is my uncle. But even if we were not related, I can honestly say that my review would be the same. Very interesting!
