This hotel was built in 1909 and serves as the setting for Stephen King's novel, the Shining! But is it really haunted? Well, most people would say yes. Even though there haven't been that many people who have died here (it's just a regular hotel), it is considered to be one of the most haunted locations in America. This case is actually fairly recent: 10 years ago, on May 4th 2010, Suzanne Pilley went missing. She was last seen on CCTV footage, where she was about 20 meters from the entrance to her office. This case was incredibly controversial because the man they charged with her murder was charged without there being a body. Is it possible that Suzanne is still alive? This asylum is the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America, and is supposedly the second largest in the world after the Kremlin in Moscow. And, even though it was built to house 250 patients, at its peak it held over 2,000 people in the same amount of space. 

As you can imagine, this caused pretty terrible, cramped conditions, and likely caused a deterioration of mental health in many of the patients. Inhumane and barbaric treatments were used to lower the number of people staying at the asylum, including electroshock therapy and icepick lobotomies. Basically, the place was designed to improve mental health but the conditions here caused so so many people to die. Make sure to give this episode a listen to hear about some of the ghosts who still walk these halls...

Found dead in his cell on March 28th, 2020, at 19:43, the Grim Sleeper was known for the alleged 14 year break from killing between 1988 and 2002. But, did he really stop killing? Or did he just get good at hiding the evidence?

This is obviously a very scary time for everyone with the whole COVID-19 pandemic, but we hope that this can be a break from thinking about that. So enjoy us talking about this really really weird story and how neither of us would like to be in that situation at all ever. Also, fair warning, this episode has a bit of an audio problem but since it was so long we didn't want to re record, and hopefully it won't be too noticeable.
