They did however leave a caveat that if any near earth object posed the threat they would be able to warn us in time. Not only is NASA pulling a PR stunt they are also delivering disinformation.
There seems to be a few unexplained things happening in space and yet NASA declared with a straight face that this planet has nothing to worry about—that all things are under their control and that they will be able to protect the earth from any extraterrestrial threat.
