THE 7 SYSTEMS OF INFLUENCE
Knowledge is not power.
You may know everything, but without influence, you can’t do anything.
If knowledge were enough then watching a video on parenting would produce perfect children, attending a job training summit would guarantee you employment, and reading a business book would be all you need to run a successful business.
What’s missing?
Influence.
Influence is how great leaders:
Attract top talent to build world-class teams
Motivate their teams to dream big and execute
Build powerful brands
Generate new revenue
Create sustainable growth
In 1999, I started a marketing agency called MWI.
For seven years, I rode a rollercoaster of profit and loss until I was buried under a mountain of debt. In addition, I hadn’t paid myself a dime in four years.
My wife and I lived in a studio apartment above a garage and shared a small car with no air conditioning.
I worked 100 hour weeks, often slept on the office floor, missed family events, and ignored important relationships.
My health also suffered. I also weighed 239 lbs, about 70 lbs more than I should, and couldn’t walk up a single flight of stairs without wheezing for five minutes afterward.
I was unhealthy, poor, and miserable.
I also had no idea what to do.
I couldn’t afford to quit, but I also couldn’t afford to keep living like this.
A TURNING POINT
Before I could influence anyone else, I recognized I had to fix myself. There was one thing I knew I could do–I could go to the gym.
Before 2007, I had never run over a mile in my life, but by 2008 I was training for my first half-Ironman. I lost 60 lbs, ran a marathon, then ran another. I got into trail running and ultra-marathons. My longest run to date was a 14-hour, 70K (43.5 miles) over three mountain peaks.
Something interesting happened along the way as I learned when you achieve excellence in one area of your life, it pulls up other areas of your life. Almost like magic, as I got fit I saw my relationships improve and I also made better business decisions.
By 2012, my life had improved dramatically, both personally and professionally. However, I wasn’t satisfied.
My agency was doing well, but it was still a small, local business, rather than the international agency I dreamed of when I started it.
I began to look for a partner, someone to share my vision of what my business could become and who would work with me to make it reality.
After a year of searching, I found the partner I was looking for, and some

Small Business Owners Need to Embrace Big Tech - HR, Finance, Marketing and SEO
Small business owners have a lot on their plates. For some, it might feel like they just don't have the time to invest in learning new skills.
However, finding the time to learn technical skills is one of the most powerful things a small business owner can do for their future.
Whether it's learning a software that helps run the business more efficiently, being able to build and maintain a website, or creating no-code apps to automate busywork, tech can change the course of any size company.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
Survey respondents underlined the importance of these although only a little more than half (56%) said they were currently using one of these tools. It was clear small and medium sized businesses understood the importance of these CRMs for interacting with clients but hadn’t found one they liked.
HR Software
This was one of the other technologies that was flagged in the survey by just over half of the respondents. If you’re looking to include this with your small business, administrative functions like those for benefits and attendance are important.
It’s also a good idea to look for some strategic options like tracking long-term employee development.
Content Marketing and SEO
Content marketing is a ubiquitous term in the entrepreneurial world yet many wrongfully presume it’s simple: You write some content, publish it online and shortly thereafter people flock to your website and buy your product. Right? As a small business owner or entrepreneur, you know the process is much more involved, calling for niche expertise and far greater attention to detail.
Beyond simply writing the content, you have to ensure that your target audience will actually want to read it, optimize it for SEO and then promote it in the right circles. Otherwise, your content is doomed to become another long forgotten URL aimlessly floating around the internet.
When implemented correctly, content marketing has the power to boost your domain authority, skyrocket your qualified lead generation and position you and your business as industry experts and thought leaders. The question becomes not if content marketing is right for you, but rather how can you best navigate the many channels of content marketing to fit your business’s goals?

Generating new leads and growing your client base as a Financial Advisor is crucial to success.
Financial Advisor and sales leader, Jamie Rossi, shares his strategies on how he dominates his sales quotas.
Leads are what fuel a business. Leads help a business to keep growing. This is especially true with financial advisors, wealth managers, financial planners, RIAs and insurance agents.
The problem many financial advisors face, however, is that the traditional avenues for generating these leads (things like getting referrals, word of mouth, networking, etc.) are slow, unpredictable and difficult to scale.
Let Jamie show you better, more effective ways to grow your client base as a Financial Advisor.
New financial advisors face a formidable challenge: You must find clients willing to trust you to manage their resources without being able to clearly demonstrate a history of success. Even seasoned financial advisors may discover that clients have grown increasingly vigilant — and for good reason.
With more than a quarter-million financial advisors in the United States, it’s hard to stand out as a professional. As the industry is expected to grow over the next decade, it will be even harder to earn new business.
Wondering how to get clients as a financial advisor? First, you must work to refine your message and online presence in a robust and focused manner. Then, you can network both online and offline using a mix of traditional and modern methods
The inbound methodology is the method of growing your organization by building meaningful, lasting relationships with consumers, prospects, and customers. It’s about valuing and empowering these people to reach their goals at any stage in their journey with you.
Why? Because when your customers succeed, you succeed.
The inbound methodology can be applied in three ways:
1. Attract: drawing in the right people with valuable content and conversations that establish you as a trusted advisor with whom they want to engage.
2. Engage: presenting insights and solutions that align with their pain points and goals so they are more likely to buy from you.
3. Delight: providing help and support to empower your customers to find success with their purchase.
Overview: What is inbound marketing?
At its core, inbound marketing allows your business to attract and engage with customers in a way that builds trust and delivers value. It’s a customer-centric strategy designed to deepen a customer’s relationship with your company over time.
This relationship-building is achieved through a variety of digital tactics. Examples include search engine optimization (SEO), video tutorials and webinars, podcasts, and social media posts.
If the content you provide benefits to the consumer, they’ll be motivated to buy because they are already deriving value from their initial engagements with your organization.
Depending on how expansive you want your inbound marketing strategy to be, you may require a dedicated marketing team to manage these efforts, such as someone responsible for maintaining the company’s social media presence.
Inbound marketing requires time to develop good content, nurture customer leads, and create evangelists for your company.
But if you are looking to grow your customers, increase retention, use it as part of your business development efforts, or expand your B2B marketing strategies, inbound marketing is for you.
Inbound marketing vs outbound marketing: What’s the difference?
A word about the difference between inbound and outbound marketing strategies.
While inbound marketing is about drawing customers to your company, outbound marketing is about your business pushing its message out to the world, usually through advertising.
Getting your company’s message in front of consumers through outbound marketing is costly. Buying advertising is rarely cheap, and results can be elusive since consumers tend to ignore ads.
In contrast, inbound marketing can be low cost or even free, and because you’re forming relationships, you’re also building the lifetime value of your customers.
Final advice for inbound marketing beginners
To achieve successful inbound marketing results, the key is the quality of the content you create. It’s got to be entertaining, informative, and valuable to your customers.
Content that is too salesy or focused on promoting your business will fall flat.
Put the customer’s needs first, and your inbound marketing strategy will evolve prospects into lifelong customers.

What is a Virtual CMO? - http://virtualcmo.expert/
1) Owned Media - Your Website, Blog, YouTube channel, Podcast, Facebook Page, Email, etc. This is the media you control.
2) Earned Media - Appearing as a guest on someone else’s blog, YouTube channel, or Podcast. Being featured in the news or in an industry publication. Also called “Publicity”.
3) Paid Media - Google Ads, Facebook Ads, YouTube ads, direct mail, etc.
Earned, Owned, and Paid Media Further Defined
Earned media
If owned media sites are the destination then earned media is the vehicle that helps people get there.
What good is a website or social media site if no one is seeing or interacting with it? That’s where earned media comes in. Earned media is essentially online word of mouth, usually seen in the form of ‘viral’ tendencies, mentions, shares, reposts, reviews, recommendations, or content picked up by 3rd party sites. One of the most effective driving forces of earned media is usually a combination of strong organic rankings on the Search Engines, and content distributed by the brand. First page rankings and good content are typically the biggest drivers.
Rankings on the first page of the search engines place your owned media sites and content links in a position to receive higher engagement and shares, which is why a good SEO strategy is crucial. When it comes to brand content, interesting, informative content can come in all shapes and sizes. Whether it be a blog, info-graphic, video, press release, webinar or e-book, the bottom line is that the content has to be worthwhile in order to receive the value of earned media; which is why a great content strategy is also important.
Owned media
Owned media is any web property that you can control and is unique to your brand.
One of the most common examples is a website, although blog sites and social media channels are other examples of owned media properties too. Channels like social media and blogs are extensions of your website, and all three are extensions of your brand as a whole. The more owned media you have, the more chances you have to extend your brand presence in the digital sphere. (Check out our post on SEO for blogs to earn better rankings!)
Paid media
Paid media is a good way to promote content in order to drive earned media, as well as direct traffic to owned media properties.
Paying to promote content can help get the ball rolling and create more exposure. Social Media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn offer advertising that could potentially help boost your content as well as your website. Another way to gain more exposure for your content is to pay influencers to rep your products or services, impacting the reach and recognition your pieces receive. Using retargeting, Pay Per Click (PPC) and display ads is an effective and more direct way to drive searchers to your owned media sites like your website, to help increase traffic and/or conversions.
Joe Yazbeck has helped thousands of leaders to hone this ability and transform their goals into success.
Leadership, like any other ability or quality, needs to be learned. Just being in a position of leadership doesn’t automatically mean that one can be a successful leader. There are many aspects to being a leader that determine one’s success, such as decision-making, problem solving and team building. Yet, the most important is the ability to communicate – to bring your ideas to reality and to influence and motivate others to follow your cause.
