The guys dive further into the new Dungeon Masters Guide this week, covering chapters 4 and 5. The chapters focus mostly on how to run a game, how to build an encounter with a new CR?, and how to build a campaign. Even the experienced game masters can find stuff of use in the chapters though since it has short adventure ideas.

GDM Jay discusses the ecology of the Catoblepas. An incredibly strange magical monster with actual historical lore from Africa. Diving into the history and the different versions of the creature throughout D&D shows that it can be a downright dangerous beast or a simple encounter.

This week the guys sit down and start to dive into the new Dungeon Masters Guide. Dan and Christopher go back and forth walking through the good and the bad of the first few chapters. Oddly enough they think it’s actually pretty well done and useful for new DM’s and has some uses for experienced DM’s.

GDM Jay gives us the ecology of the Bad of Devouring this week. While it is common knowledge that the bag is an extra-dimensional creature it isn’t common knowledge of what the thing is and how to survive being eaten by it.

It Halloween week and the Grumpy Dungeon Masters are feeling it. GDM Christopher got to run his yearly game of Lets Try to Kill Strahd to much fanfare. GDM Dan got to join him on this adventure and had a great time running through Ravenloft.

As it’s Halloween week the guys take a deep look at the lore of the Vampires throughout D&D history. While Strahd was the first named vampire in D&D he wasn’t the first vampire in D&D. Listen in to find out who the first vampire in D&D was and how Strahd came to be.

GDM Jay got a chance to run his first Shadowdark game and it went exactly as hoped. PC deaths were on the menu and it was a glorious time!
