The guys have returned from Gary Con and have many stories to tell. Before that happens though, we had to let GDM Christopher Rant about WotC some more and the killing of Sigil. Christopher also has changed his mind on whether or not the market is flooded with to many games at the moment. Apparently the gaming market is strong like an ox.

Everybody else details out their favorite moments from Gary Con, which included a little bit of PVP, a game of Mothership and the terror involved in that, rolling dice in an Oriental Adventures game with Zeb Cook, and getting a ton of things signed. All around one heck of a con.

Keep an eye out for the video of the official Grumpy Dungeon Masters Dungeons and Dragons pinball tournament that took place at Gary Con between the guys.

Also coming soon is the Kingdom of Keshanar Kickstarter from Orthane Productions. Check it out when it releases on April 8th.

We apologize for the lesser quality audio for this podcast. It was recorded on a single microphone on a whim.

This week the guys made it to Gary Con. While they were there they managed to sit down with the team from Orthane Productions, which are putting together an incredibly ambitious 5E setting titled Keshanar. The guys got to chat with Dave Hadden, the CEO of Orthane and the resident Egyptologist Dr Jill Waller.

Keshanar is a Dungeons and Dragons 5E setting based around the history and mystery of ancient Egypt. It includes many new sub-classes, spells, and monsters for players to sink their teeth into. The goal is to bring the fantasy aspect to gaming while staying true to the historical information about ancient Egypy that we have. Orthane has gone the extra mile though and digitally mapped out the entire city of Keshanar allowing players and game masters to wander among the city like never before.

Grumpy Dungeon Master Christopher ran his usual Adventures League game set in the Eve of Vecna. While it is a high level game and somewhat dangerous for characters he managed to pull off the most unlikely of total party kills. Listen in as he regales us the tale of some of the worst rolls in Dungeons and Dragons history.

GDM’s Jay and Kristian are preparing for a game of Mothership at Gary Con and decide to talk a bit about the system and the setting. Needless to say they are looking forward to dying horribly to alien scum. Also GDM Jay takes Dan down a path of old video games by talking about the Order of the Griffon for the Turbo Graphix 16.

GDM Kristian talks about an incredibly wild group of monsters from a Dragon Magazine in 1990. Lets just say none of them would actually ever appear in a proper monster manual.

Grumpy Dungeon Master Jay is back from his battle with bird flu or something. This week the guys talk about the Caverns of Thracia release by Goodman Games. GDM Dan got his PDF’s and talks a bit about the adventure and the history behind it. Goodman Games has released a number of old D&D modules for modern audiences and this is another wonderful addition.

GDM Jay talks a bit about the new release by Furtive Goblin and John Gregory known as Sooty Beards. If you’ve ever wanted a Dwarven Mining Town on the edge full of strange and unique denizens this is a book for you. He also talks a bit about one of the most rare D&D modules known as The Jade Hare.

Grumpy Dungeon Master Christopher here. Jay is out sick due to an issue with a failed Con save. So, the rest of the guys chat about how decent Eve of Ruin has been as a campaign for Christopher’s Adventure League games.

This week the Demo for Solasta 2 came out and the guys all had to try it out, since it’s an incredible Dungeons & Dragons 5E video game. It’s just a demo so there is still a lot of changes to come, but the guys talk about the good and bad of it.

The guys are just a month away from their trip to Gary Con and they finally have their schedule for the event worked out. This includes for some of them a chance to game with Zeb Cook and even Heidi Gygax. GDM Christopher will even get his first chance to play some 1st Edition Dungeons & Dragons. He’s preparing by playing his first game of Shadowdark.

Hasbro got their quarterly earnings and decided that they are going to double down on digital media going forward. What does this mean for Dungeons & Dragons? The Grumpy Dungeon Masters don’t know exactly, but they speculate as usual. Lets see where this goes.

GDM Kristian takes us on a deep dive through Kickstarter Zine Month. Nobody knew that was a thing, but we all do now! If you’re looking for some awesome, cheap, and simple modules or ideas for your campaigns look into zines!

GDM Jay dives into a new ecology of the Clockwork Horror. While it doesn’t involve any clockwork it does involve plenty of horror. These guys are collectively dangerous to entire worlds despite being a low challenge rating.

This week Grumpy Dungeon Masters are looking at the second part of the Unearthed Arcana. It includes a subclass for the rogue, sorceror, and the wizard. Lets just say the guys get a bit grumpy about the Spellfire sorceror subclass. GDM Dan just wants it to be a new Spellfire card game.

It’s also superbowl weekend so the guys take a look at the stats for the Superb Owlbear. A mythical beast that will eat all your nachos and drink all your beer. Oh, and also the ecology of the regular owlbear.

The Grumpy Dungeon Masters got some play-test materials for the 80’s Adventures for 5E. For those not in the know, it’s a fantasy setting throwback to the 1980’s. Action Heroes, Greedy Bankers, and Hair Metal all the way. The guys take a brief look at the play-test material just to wet the appetite.

GDM Christopher & Kristian look at some more of the monsters coming in the 5.5 Monster Manual. This week it’s the Fey and Abberations. Definitely some serious changes coming with re-classifications of many famous monster types.

GDM Dan finds another really strange ecology. This week it’s the Sussurus. An undead hating beastie that makes droning noises and will chase you down for farting in it’s general direction.
