Patrick opens up today's show by giving an update on Trevor Bauer. Bauer will not be facing legal charges following an announcement from the LA District Attorney's Office, but this does not mean that Bauer will not be suspended by MLB. After that Patrick updates everyone on how CBA negotiations have been, and they really have not been well. The state of things is good because both sides are still talking and close on big ideas, but they are very far apart on the smaller parts of the CBA. Things like the pre-arbitration bonus pool money, revenue sharing, and a few others. In the third segment, Patrick continues with the list of the Top-50 players of all time. Starting today at 25 and working down all the way to 1. Patrick gives his thoughts on where some players ended up placing. However, Patrick feels like every single one of these 25 all-time greats could be the number 1 on anyone's own list. Patrick opens today's show by congratulating Joe West on an amazing career. West's career spanned 43 seasons and was on the field for countless memories for fans and players everywhere. Following that Patrick covers what has been happening with the CBA. The short answer is not much, and it does not look like anything good will be happening anytime soon. Regarding dates like Opening Day, it may be time to begin worrying about a delayed season. Following that Patrick goes into an ESPN list of the top players of all time. Patrick is only covering the top-50 players on this list and will respond with a list after the conclusion of this list. Some players may deserve to be where they are ranked, some may deserve to be higher. Who will end where? Kevin starts the episode by giving an update on the CBA negotiations. The two sides met for approximately 90 minutes this week, and there was zero progress made towards a new deal. Neither side is willing to concede on their core values and because of this a delay to spring training feels inevitable at this point. Kevin then breaks down the best teams to NOT win the World Series since 2000. Kevin discusses the 2011 Phillies who had possibly the best pitching staff in recent history, as well as the 2001 Mariners who won a record 116 games but couldn't get past the Yankees in the postseason. Kevin wraps up the show by talking about MLB Stars who had a down year in 2021 and are looking for a bounce back season this summer. Guys like Keuchel, Ryu, and Hendricks all had down years on the mound and are looking to regain previous form. Also stars such as Mookie Betts and DJ LeMahieu will to shake off an uncharacteristically bad years. Patrick is back with another episode and more updates on CBA negotiations. Patrick goes over when fans should begin to worry about important dates on the MLB timeline. MLB and MLBPA are running out of time to get a deal done before delays to spring training and/or the shorting of the season. Following that segment, Patrick talks about Doug Glanville's article arguing against Barry Bonds enshrinement in the Hall of Fame, but from a player from that era's perspective. Patrick ends today's show with a two-segment story of William Clarence Mathews. Mathews was a fantastic baseball and football player at Harvard University. Mathews was rumored in the summer of 1905 to join the Boston Nationals (Beeneaters). Patrick dives into the story of the man who could have Jackie Robbinson 42-years earlier. Kevin begins the episode by breaking down the top 1-2 punches atop each teams rotation. The Mets have the top spot after signing Max Scherzer to pair with Jacob deGrom. The Brewers are a close second with Woodruff and Burnes, but the rest of the top 10 could be ranked in any order. Kevin then discusses about each organizations top prospect for the 2022 season. Everyone has heard the names Rutschman, Rodriguez, and Witt but Kevin breaks down the lesser-known prospects who might not be household names yet. Teams like the Phillies and Diamondbacks have their top prospects in Rookie Ball. Kevin wraps up the show by talking about current and former MLB players who could have had successful football careers. Darin Erstad was a top punting prospect coming out of Nebraska, Jeff Samardzija was a 1st round WR prospect, and Jackie Robinson set all kinds of records at UCLA.If you enjoyed this episode, follow us and subscribe to the show: you can find us on iTunes or on any app that carries podcasts as well as on YouTube. Patrick starts today's show by continuing the telling of David Ortiz's Hall of Fame career. Ortiz never won an MVP, but he did finish in the Top-5 of MVP voting four times. Ortiz also would lead his Boston Red Sox to three World Series victories during his tenure. Big Papi was almost murdered in the Dominican Republic in 2019, fourtunetly Ortiz would come out on top of that as well. David Ortiz was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in January. Following that Patrick talks about some baseball legends that could have just as well been a legend on the Gridiorn. Players like Adum Dunn, Jackie Robbinson, and Mickey Mantle are just a few of the talented athletes that chose baseball. To end today's show Patrick talks about the most likely stars that will be on the trade block during the 2022 deadline. Players like Matt Olsen, Ketel Marte, and other studs could be on the move if their franchises do not come out hot starting the season. Kevin starts the episode by breaking down the results of the 2022 BBWAA Hall of Fame voting. David Ortiz is a first-ballot Hall of Famer as he was the only player to reach the 75% threshold. Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds did not receive enough votes and will now fall off the ballot after their 10th and final time. Kevin then discusses the top Hall of Fame classes of all-time based on the total WAR for the class. The top two classes are from the 1930s due to the fact that these were the first few classes and had a few of the legends of the game be enshrined. There is a recent class or two that are high on the list. Can you guess which class? Kevin wraps up the show having some fun and talking about the most stunning off-season trades in MLB history. Five of the most stunning trades in baseball history have occurred in the past two years. Will there be another stunner this offseason when we finally get a new CBA agreement? David Oritz is the newest inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ortiz is unquestionably a player worthy of the Hall of Fame, but he is not even close to the players that Barry Bonds and Roger Clemons were. Patrick talks about why the Hall of Fame needs to take a good look at itself, and needs to change the voting rights. Patrick also updates the CBA negotiations in the first segment. Patrick also talks about Ortiz's feelings after being inducted. Ortiz feels like he does not come close to those two guys, and yet Ortiz finds himself standing alone at the podium. To end the show Patrick begins talking about the incredible story that David Ortiz is living, a kid in the Dominican Republic to enshrinement. Kevin starts the episode by discussing the possible timelines for baseball this season depending on when the MLB and MLBPA come to an agreement on a new CBA. If an agreement is not reached by March 1st, this is when things start to become interesting and moving or losing games becomes a real possibility. Kevin then breaks down the top 10 best young cores in baseball. To qualify, a player can be no older than age 26 at the start of the 2022 season. The top two teams are loaded with young talent and look to be set up nicely to compete for the next 5-10 seasons. Kevin wraps up the show by predicting each team's next hall-of-fame inductee. With the 2022 class being announced this week, Kevin thought it would be fun to take a look into the future for each organization.
