  • GSMC Baseball Podcast Episode 650: Ken Rosenthal, Andruw Jones, and Bob Gibson
Patrick is back with a packed episode that flies by! Patrick opens the show by talking about the MLB Network deciding not to renew Ken Rosenthal's contract with the company after 12 years. The issue is that Rosenthal appears to have been let go due to Rosenthal's criticism of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. Patrick reads one of the articles in question and gives his own thoughts on the situation. Following that segment, Patrick dives into the crazy career of Andruw Jones. Jones was a perennial Gold Glove winner, winning 10 consecutive from 1998-2007. The reason Patrick chose to cover Andruw Jones is because of the article "No Crime in Not Being Willie Mays: Andruw Jones and the Hall of Fame" By Ryan M. Spaeder (@theaceofspaeder). In which he makes the case that Andruw Jones is obviously a Hall of Fame player, but for some reason is continuously overlooked. Patrick ends the show by scratching the surface of the great Bob Gibson. • GSMC Baseball Podcast Episode 645: The Real Life Bad News Bears
Patrick welcomes everyone into today's episode by covering a 1-season wonder for every club. This segment bleeds into the next where Patrick talks about one of the most interesting teams ever. Patrick finishes today's show by talking about the all-holiday team from MLB history. The criterion of this team was a holiday-themed name, Players like Matt Holiday, and Jesús Aguilar are obvious examples. Patrick then talks about what players like Charlie Morton and Lucas Giolito have said about how the lockout is affecting them. P.S. Patrick recorded this episode with a new setup and was recorded on the wrong settings. Patrick extends an apology for the "popping" and the issue will be fixed by his next episode. • GSMC Baseball Podcast Episode 642: National League Holiday Wish List
Kevin starts the episode by staying in the holiday spirit. With Christmas less than a week away, Kevin gives his list for Santa for each team in the National League. Starting out in the NL East where teams like the Mets and Phillies are working to end the hold that the Braves have had on the division over the last few years. Kevin then discusses the NL Central where the Brewers have to be asking for upgrades to the offense. The Brewers need to add two power bats to help the pitching staff that dominated last year. The Cubs and Cardinals are also looking for improvements to close the gap and make the division more competitive this coming year. Kevin wraps up the show with the NL West and how the Dodgers want multiple of the top free agents still remaining. This would be bad news for the Padres and Giants who are hoping to make enough upgrades to take down the powerhouse Dodgers.
