A guardian ad litem (GAL) is a person – typically an attorney – appointed by the court who represents the non-legal interest of a minor child in a divorce. Their role is to look at what is in the best interest of your child and help make a recommendation to the court.

While that sounds simple, it can be a complex process as courts tend to put much weight on the GAL’s report, so how you work with a GAL can have an extreme impact on your case.
