  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #343 - Kristin Velvet
Hailing from a farm in outback Australia, Kristin Velvet’s passion for music has taken her across the globe, starting out as a DJ and promoter in Tokyo, to becoming a regular fixture of the dance floors in London, via Sydney where she was a label manager at Domino Records. Today, she is an essential figure of Berlin’s club scene, holding a residency at Watergate Club and running her label Arms & Legs, alongside Daniel Steinberg. The label has featured a long line of killer remixes and releases from respected artists, including Felix Da Housecat, Paul Johnson, 808 State, Cari Lekebusch, Nick Holder, Oliver Dollar, Jan Driver & Crazy P.
" This mix is pretty reflective of what I play in the club at the moment, lots of new and forthcoming Arms & Legs releases, the odd classic and an edit or two. It's a banging, feel good club mix, made to make you dance. I hope you enjoy it! "

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #341 - Outplay
Outplay is a record label focused on the deeper side of house music, run by two Dutch producers, Hans Peeman (Junktion) and Daniël Leseman, otherwise known as Fouk. No doubt you'll be familiar with their work, and we've been big fans of their output for years here at SB.
To celebrate their latest release from Sofatalk & XL Regular, we've invited them to provide a showcase of the sounds you can expect to find on their imprint, and provide an insight into what resonates with them at the label.
“In light of our latest release by Sofatalk & XL Regular we’ve put together a mix which blends all goodness from Jazz, Funk and House, including two tracks of their Afro Quarters EP and some brand new promo’s by the likes of Demi Riquísimo, KX9000 and The Sunburst Band….”

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #340 - Rhythm Sister
In this week’s mix we have DJ collective and community Rhythm Sister. They form a formidable partnership behind the decks, but also work hard behind the scenes to promote and support rising female, nonbinary, and trans talent in the electronic music scene.
They put on parties, Ableton and DJ workshops, curate radio takeovers, and DJ out together a bunch; recently playing Risen, Queens Yard Summer Party, Love International, and more. We were lucky enough to catch three of their members Ariane V, Hemlin, and Liv Ayers play a bangin B2B2B at this year’s @divine.risen festival and we’ve been pestering them for a mix ever since. Et Voilá!
Be sure to check out their monthly show on Balamii. All killer, no filler.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #338 - Jon Gravy
Over the past few years, Jon Gravy’s raw and hazy electronic style has seen him unveil material on the likes of Blaq Numbers, Rough Recordings, Pets Recordings and his own Step Back Trax, piquing the interest of the likes of Cinthie, Demuja and KETTAMA along the way. He delivers his latest long player via his own Gravy Trax, a seven-track collection that traverses through breaks electronica, warm deep house and spacey electro.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #336 - Broken District
Broken District is a music label run by Jus Jam, Antwan, Scud and Real J, exploring alternative music styles that blend together house, jazz, electro, hip-hop and more. Starting in 2018, the label counts 10 releases with music from a host of SB favourites, such as SofaTalk, Jus Jam, Interface Palm, Real, J., System Olympia, Sam Irl, Turbojazz, Junktion, Setwun, and Jeppe Wolmer.
Most recent release is "Curated Space" from Melbourne-based producer Interface Palm and featuring Horatio Luna, released May 13th.
Upcoming is a new digital VA that sees the label exploring more electronic, uptempo sounds and a vinyl release from Italian jazz ensemble Slowaxx.
"It was really fun to work on this mix. Really nice exercise because with our label we explore a wide variety of styles, tempos and sounds. All these differences made us really dive into the back catalogue for this mix in order to tell a real story, and try to tell a story that starts slowly, with downtempo and quiet sounds. We accelerate the pace a little bit with more house, deep stuff... to finally and slowly close down the mix with a downtempo track.
Mix was recorded at home on both vinyl and digital, with a Mastersound Valve 4 rotary mixer. It is mastered by Pompon F."

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #335 - Jon Sable
Having lived in a mixture of NYC and London over the last 10 years, New Zealand's Jon Sable has returned to his native land to raise his newborn son. It's from his new (familiar) base where he will continue to run In Dust We Trust, his record label co-owned and operated with Chaos in the CBD. There's a cheeky forthcoming release from the label at the 26min mark, so keep an ear out for that.
His talent isn't limited to DJing and Label A&R, he also cuts his teeth in the studio and is due to release in 2022 on IDWT and long time SB lovers, Wolf Music. Expect a large dollop of dub, with sprinklings of electro and interplanetary love letters in the mix.
"I recorded the mix at our new place in New Zealand on a rainy day, while our son was napping in the next room. My records finally arrived from London via sea freight and they came just in time to record this. I hope you like it!"

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #334 - Moodena
Moodena’s success over the last four years has been nothing short of prodigious. His rise to the top of both the digital and vinyl charts has all the hallmarks of a classic overnight success story. However, like the majority of such stories, he has in fact earned his disco stripes the hard way, through years of non-stop effort having worked in the electronic music industry for over 25 years.
"I recorded the mix live on 2 CDJS2000nx2 and a DJR400 mixer. For this mix I wanted to incorporate a few different styles of house that I love, house that has funk, soul, jazz or disco elements. There are some classics, some new bits and some favourites of mine that I used to play on vinyl. I tried to build some energy as the mix progresses but always retain funk and groove elements that I love to play and listen too. Much love for having me, hope you enjoy x"
