  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #323 - Retromigration
German-born and Amsterdam based Retromigration has been carving out a name for himself in the last year by producing a refreshing and raw sound in his music. With only a handful of releases by established labels like Wolf Music, Rhythm Section and Handy Records, the German producer and DJ with Nigerian and Ghanaian roots has already made waves and is quickly cementing himself as someone to watch. From a young age music was omnipresent in his life and after learning how to play the bass and starting to play classical music at a young age he moved to Jazz, Hip-Hop and House music... which is represented in his productions and DJ sets alike today.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #322 - Loz Goddard
Loz's sound has become more refined since 2017, and his new creative approach within his music has caused him to look further afield to places such as Seb Wildblood’s Church imprint, to release as ‘Goddard’ with an EP that received early support from Resident Advisor, Mr. Scruff and Session Victim. Following the release of 'Find Me' on Church, Loz is now taking his time in crafting some more experimental and electronic sounds, inspired by his love for Sheffield's Warp Records and artists such as Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin & Squarepusher. His full length debut LP will be out early 2022.
"The mix contains a bunch of new and old tracks that have inspired me in some way over the last few years on the road to the creation of the LP. Some bits soundtracked my lockdown with the revival of my love for ambient music, some bits came from past radio shows and of course some bits have come from my LP.
I purposely kept the mix a bit more on the chilled side, as that’s where most inspiration for my album came from. As well as the track selections, I’ve kept the mixing kinda chilled too with plenty of ambient interludes. Hopefully it works well as a home listening thing, but there’s of course a couple of recent buys in there that should keep the energy levels up!"

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #321 - Scarlett O'Malley
Scarlett O’Malley brings the energy and enthusiasm of youth combined with a wealth of musical knowledge way beyond her years. Born and raised in West London but now making her mark around Europe, she is a new breed of DJ doing things on her own terms. Her tireless passion for the scene has made her one of online radio’s busiest talents. She is well known and respected for interviewing legends and trailblazers with a uniquely down-to-earth but probing style on stations like Foundation FM and Whynow radio and she has a monthly residency with The Vinyl Factory. She also hosts and produces her own Youth Club podcast which merges her passion for music, history and subculture. She runs her own party and mix series The Soul Exchange.
"I wanted to head to the later, darker and slightly heavier side of the club with this mix. Think 4am in a sweaty corner of Corsica! I love house music with all my heart, especially early 90s house music and a lot of the tunes in this mix stems from those early sounds, there are acid overtones in a lot of the music and that underground tribal sound. A house mix in its entirety, there are also breaks and a little techno touch with a ton of groovy basslines in tow. Heavier music with soul!"

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #320 - Freerange Records
The next label to feature in the SB guest mix series requires little to no introduction. Minted 25 years ago by high school friends, Jamie 'Jimpster' Odell and Tom Roberts, and having amassed a mighty 412 releases (listed on discogs anyway) we welcome Freerange Records to the fold.
With a discography as deep as the music therein, Freerange member, Conrad Lee has elected to "dig through the lesser explored corners of the back-catalogue, picking out tracks that still feel relevant today and pairing them with some, but not all, of my favourite releases from my time from starting as an intern up until now. So expect tracks from Jimpster, Shur-i-kan, Crackazat, Ewan Jansen and Ron Trent among others."

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #319 - Chrissy
Chrissy is a genre-bending DJ/producer with releases on 17 Steps, Dansu Discs, Super Rhythm Trax, Chiwax, Classic, Freerange, Razor N Tape, Nervous, and more. He specializes in rave-influenced sounds, Chicago house, and disco, but his two-decade career has ranged from jungle to footwork to freestyle, with gigs at Panorama Bar, Smartbar (where he held a residency from 2015-2018), and a residency at San Francisco’s oldest and most storied queer club, The Stud.
His new album, Physical Release, is coming soon on Hooversound Recordings, and we can expect EPs on Pets Recordings and Sorry Records for good measure.
"Oops! All Piano House! Here's an extended DJ mix featuring some of my favourite uplifting piano house anthems. Recorded with 3 CDJs, Mastersounds Radius 4V Rotary Mixer, Teile Keinedelay delay pedal, TC Electronic Helix phaser pedal, and customized Vermona Action Filter."

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #318 - Jay Carder
There's more to Jay Carder than just one genre. "A typical Jay Carder club set infuses raw, tribal rhythms with house, breaks and electronica in low-end-heavy DJ sets. Throwing parties for the underground dance community, she’s as much at home warming up for Bicep as she is playing alongside a hero like K-Lone. Her unique connection to the dance floor is key to her energy and ethos, but there’s more to mention. From Fela to Bonobo, her wide-ranging influences are rooted in music with soul, groove and depth. Ask her to name a list of her favourite artists and a list come back as long as her right arm: Overmono, David August, Max Cooper, Throwing Snow, Funkadelic and LTJ Bukem all come tumbling down her proverbial sleeve. Shake it again and Sault, Slugabed, J Dilla and Nina Simone then artistically emerge: she’s the very definition of an eclectic selection.
"I thought I'd go somewhere I've never been before for this mix – to analogue heaven with purely vinyl selections. Normally I'm a quick mixer, a looper, a 3-CDJ tune tickler – so thought I'd switch things up and dust off some acetate for this one. The result is tracks that are long, deep and 100% considered for their positioning and sonic pleasure. There's even a few lairy (and hairy!) bits that will keep you (as they sure did me) on your toes. Some of these records I bought years ago before I could even DJ; some of them I bought last week. All of them I hope give you a tasty little flavour of Jay Carder. Cheers to Slothboogie for having me!"

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #317 - Jive Talk
Welcome everyone to 2022... another fantastic year of guest mixes awaits us, and we kick off in style with London based duo, Jive Talk. Since forming, the two friends (Jonny & Sam) have played an impressive array of the UK’s best parties and festivals, as well as hosting their own ‘Jive Talk & Friends’ stage takeovers at the much loved Noisily and Gottwood Festivals, the latter for which they're now official residents.
Over the last 3 years they’ve released a fine array of wax on the likes of Gottwax, Tropical Disco Records, Semi Delicious, Midnight People, and Saint Wax, to name a few... as well as their own imprint, Not For You.
Their releases mirror their eclectic DJ style – covering a range of sounds and influences. Expect to see much more from this fruity twosome over the coming year with plenty of exciting gigs and releases on the horizon.

"Musical non-conformists, addicted to try and do. Always our way, always with the unique know-how of the Levantine coast. Our coast, bathed by the Mediterranean and awarded with an unbeatable climate.
We like music to transcend beyond sound and become an idea, an aesthetic, an experience. We care about taking care of every detail so that this happens."

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #315 - Ruf Dug
The producer, DJ, label boss, radio host, and record store owner Ruf Dug should need little introduction to those on the scene.
Between his residencies at Pikes, Gottwood and NTS radio the Manchester-via-Ibiza computer game freak and renowned vinyl digger has found time to meld his wide range of influences in the studio, spanning balearica, street soul, 16-bit and everything in between.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #314 - Lis Sarroca
Energetic, innovative and versatile, are just a few words you can choose to describe the prolific sound Lis Sarroca has been propelling in recent years, continuously drawing influences from her half Spanish, half Mexican background, and sprinkling in flavours from her current city of residence, Barcelona. Whether tuning in to one of her genre-melding DJ sets around Europe and beyond, her storytelling online mixes for the likes of HÖR Berlin and Rinse FM, or whether you find yourself absorbing her tight and emphatic productions - you will undoubtedly feel the Sarroca effect.
2021 saw Lis cement her position within the house scene with EP's on Shall Not Fade, Frankfurt's Chiwax, her own newly minted label, Maai, as well as SB fam Carlo's imprint, Atteral. Needless to say, we're stoked to have her in the series, and we'll be keeping a close eye on her output in 2022.
“I love the inspiration I get from travelling, seeing, smelling and hearing new things. It feeds into everything I do as a DJ and a producer”
