  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #282 - Ka§par
    After more than two decades of solid work, Ka§par’s art is still growing and evolving. He creates a highly personalised sound universe that manages to display diversity whilst retaining a unique sense of coherence - something only accessible to those who spend decades learning about the music they love. His new album “Gestures of Release” is nothing short of a clear statement to support this assertion.
    The new album proposes 10 tracks that reflect many of the producer’s most treasured aesthetics. There’s the deeper abstract jazz-house of “Rectify” and “Miles Away”, the discoid funk of “Head Down” and “Feelin’ Something”, but also the dreamy downtempo and dub of “Suave” and “Maritime Myriad”. There is also, of course, plenty of irresistible bumping dance floor action of classic inspiration with tracks like “Gestures Of Release”, “Clone Forge”, “Time Apart” and “Membrana”.
    Almost entirely produced, mixed and even mastered by the artist, this LP will be released on both digital and vinyl format. The latter will feature 6 of the 10 tracks on a great sounding 12”, with a high quality full coloured print and a digital download code offering, to be collected on the label’s web page.
    “Gestures Of Release” will be out on Kaspar’s Percebes Musica in April 2021.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #275 - Amy Dabbs
    London born, now Berlin based, Amy Dabbs is the daughter of an original Northern Soul DJ. Trusting in the mantra of doing what you love, Amy makes and plays music she believes in. Music that makes you dance and elicits an emotional response. A velvety smooth blend of genres makes her sets and compositions more interesting and diverse, something she believes is becoming more widely accepted for artists to do.
    After relocating to Berlin in 2019, Amy has been focussing on new material of her own. Her 'Girl Like Me EP' was recently released on Distant Horizons, a sub-label of London mainstay Lobster Theremin, who are also releasing her second EP next month.
    "My Slothboogie mix was recorded in my basement studio in Berlin, and I've included some of my favourite house and breaks tracks right now, as well as material from my latest EP.
    I've been listening to really wide range of stuff recently, and I feel like a lot of people are doing the same. Lockdown and all the clubs being shut has led everyone to seek out more and more music online and perhaps this has led to artists feeling they can be more diverse in their sets. I've also applied this to my own productions, having recently released a house EP on Distant Horizons and with a forthcoming jungle EP (out next month!) on Lobster Theremin."

  • Slothboogie Guestmix #274 - John Tejada
    John Tejada is a Vienna-born, Los Angeles-based electronic music composer, DJ, and professor at CalArts. Tejada’s professional output of music began in 1994 and has never let up, including four albums for the revered label Kompakt, plus releases on Pokerflat, Cocoon, Plug Research, Seventh City, Playhouse, Defected, and his own label since 1996, Palette Recordings. Tejada has also been responsible for remixing over 100 songs for acts including The Postal Service, Télépopmusic, The Field, Bomb The Bass, Way Out West, Kevin Saunderson, Darren Emerson, Gui Boratto, Simian Mobile Disco and many others. Tejada’s latest venture as Wajatta is a new musical collaboration with international star Reggie Watts, having released their debut album, Casual High Technology, in 2018 and latest album Don’t Let Get You Down in 2020 on Brainfeeder.
    Today marks the release of John's fourth LP, 'Year of the Living Dead' which John's describes here;
    “The album was started using tools I was unfamiliar with, which became an interesting exploratory process,” Tejada says. “Staying away from the obvious and having to re-learn simple things was a fun challenge.” You can hear these new creative pulsions pushing the eight tracks on Year Of The Living Dead ever-forward; the album has a unique cast, and though there are trace elements of the genres Tejada has indulged previously, he’s never quite put them together this way before. There’s the dubwise glitter sprinkled across the moody opener “The Haunting Of Earth”, the kind caresses found amongst the deftly woven textures of “Sheltered”, and the churchy melancholy, all hymnal and golden, of “Echoes Of Life”
    Be sure to check it out and hear for yourself. It's available now via Kompakt.
