  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #273 - T.U.R.F
T.U.R.F. is the musical project of childhood friends Lorenzo and Tom. They first met at a rave in 2003, where they found out they not only shared the same taste in music, but that they were also actively producing music themselves.
However, in the years to follow a potential collaboration didn't even cross their minds. Tom began to focus more on playing live instruments, whereas Lorenzo dove into the depths of electronic music and released records under his alias Kurizu. In 2017 they finally decided to join forces to start a new project: T.U.R.F.
Under this moniker they express their longtime love of house music in many shapes and forms, ranging from the grooving house from Chicago, to the deep vibes from Detroit, to the filtered disco sounds from Paris.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #272 - Lowres
With their new EP 'Mechta' out today on our own SB Jamz label, it seems entirely appropriate to have Russian lofi house duo, Lowres, in the guestmix hot seat.
They're a unique house music project by two old friends with completely different musical backgrounds. Until 2012, Feodor Stepanenko (aka Nphonix) spent many years productively engaged in drum&bass, after which he switched to modern bass, techno and house music.
Ivan Voltanov (aka Zimmer G) is a downtempo music aficionado who has several lounge albums in his back catalogue. The symbiosis of such different views on electronic music produced a sound that can be best described as warm and dusty house with lo-fi treatment.
"This mix is a collection of tunes by some of our favourite artists at the moment as well as some classic bangers. It's meant to capture the mood that we typically try to convey on the dancefloor - funky, friendly, eclectic but never wandering too far from classic house sound."

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #271 - Black Loops
Fans of SlothBoogie will be very familiar with this week's contributor to the guest mix series. Having graced the dancefloors with us on multiple occasions, and of course, providing guestmix #64 all those years ago. Musically Riccardo's style has evolved towards a more broken beat, at times garage, style of house of late, but his ear for rhythm and groove (perhaps symptomatic of his heritage as a drummer) means you're forever nodding your head.
Citing influences from genres such as funk, soul, and disco, with a style is similar to the sound of the 90’s UK House movement and early 00's NY House, join us for a 60min serving of H.O.U.S.E.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #268 - Bill Mango
"For a mind-blowing, humorous style, stands Bill Mango. With a skilful understatement, he presents House with a pinch of disco, with organic percussion, with jazzy freedoms and above all lots of ass shaking soul. A real insider tip" - George Clooney.
Hailing from Ireland, Bill Mango cut his teeth in Berlin. A verified party starter, he quickly became a regular feature on the line ups for the city's most esteemed parties.
He has held down residencies in renowned clubs such as Chalet & Griessmuehle, the latter home to his beloved bi-monthly party Mango. Over the last year, the youngster has played relentlessly, weekend after weekend, alongside some of dance music's most well regarded artists including Shanti Celeste, Ben UFO, Kornél Kovács, Project Pablo, Or:la and many more.
Seeing 2020 as an opportunity to launch his club night's label. An outlet to release his own productions. July saw the release of his 5 track sun-kissed debut EP "Sun, Sea & XTC". Which received early support from Peach, Addison Groove and even... Faithless. Bill Mango can't get no sleep with plenty of new music to land in the coming year.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #266 - Cinthie
Sometimes it can be difficult to label a genre for our guest mixes, but not so here, It was very easy to select the genre in this instance... H.O.U.S.E.... From Berlin's first lady of house music no less. We've been buggin' Cinthie for years to join the SB mix series, and after much badgering (well, not that much, Cinthie is lovely) she's stepped up to the platters that matter and delivered a mix that will catapult you into 2021, and place 2020 firmly in the rearview mirror.
    Get some.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #265 - Sean McCabe
Bristol-based producer Sean McCabe released his first tracks in 2003 at the tender age of 17 and has fine-tuned a trademark sound that is effortlessly soulful. Sean made his name in House, working with legendary US garage label King Street Sounds and remixing the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Evelyn Champagne King, Carolyn Harding, Blaze, and Roland Clark. Since then, he’s amassed an impressive discography of over 100 releases for labels like Local Talk, Strictly Rhythm, Vega Records, Tribe, and Quantize – plus an original solo album for Z Records. Sean continued his musical journey by launching his ‘Good Vibrations Music’ label.
As a DJ, he forged a reputation at the legendary Southport Weekender, where he performed regularly. Anyone who can impress the notoriously knowledgeable Southport Weekender crowd must be doing something right. Sean has also travelled the world, playing as far afield as Asia and South Africa, as well as regular appearances across Europe and the UK. Refreshingly, he seems to have no particular aspirations to play in gargantuan clubs, and admits to preferring gigs in small, intimate venues, where he can make a connection with the crowd.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #264 - Diamond
22 year old Diamond has been on our radar since his beautiful EP 'You Like Jazz?' dropped on Salin records at the start of the year. Of course, the answer to that question here at SB is, yes. So it makes perfect sense for us to invite him into the guest mix fold to flex those youthful jazzy muscles.
Diamond... "I feel like I've recently gone through an evolution in my musical tastes. Listening to a greater variety of things. I think this mix reflects that - it contains massively different genres/styles but (I hope) blended into one continuous sonic narrative. We start at like 70bpm and end up at around 135. My aim was to try and get people to find something new in here - hopefully, encourage some personal exploration into music that they may have otherwise not listened to. This isn't really a mix for the clubs, but one for a cosy evening of listening. Flecks of jazz, downtempo, ambient, hip-hop, house, UKG, techno...."
