He's served up a real standout mix this week for everyone. His recent remix for buddies Athlete Whippet was delightful, and his solo output on his label is something well worth the check-out, so make sure you do! So

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #262 - KX9000
If Cerrone and Todd Terje rejoiced in coitus, Kx9000’s music would rise as their baby. His vision resonates in us: a silky dream filled with funk, where sexy reigns over his productions as a fierce but just ruler. Nurtured by Herbie Hancock, George Clinton or even Kraftwerk, Kx9000 approaches music as a desire, while also attempting to remain as personal as he can during the conception of his current and future projects.
His recently released EP 'Plaisance Food' on the ever excellent Apparel Music went down a storm with us here at SB, so it was only natural to entice Kerim into the guest mix hot seat.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #261 - Maia Lee
London lass, Maia Lee, has been surprising audiences with her house, electro and timeless techno classics on dance floors globally for a little over 8 years now... being local, she's been on our radar with regular Bloop Radio shows, often co-hosting with SB comrade, Daisybelle, where they regularly get our heads nodding, and beards stroking. It's was only fitting then to offer the platform of the SB Guestmix, and she grabbed it with both hands, then ran... supplying an hour-long set of energy that will take you a million miles away, just in time for the weekend.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #260 - Jackmate
    Rest in Peace Michel x
In 1989 Michel Baumann started spinning as a Hip Hop DJ at local jams in the Stuttgart area. In 1991 he became infected with Chicago and Detroit based House music whilst working at a record store. Michel would go on to become the owner of a couple labels himself, namely Philpot-Records and Phil e.
He also records under the alias Soulphiction crafting musical outings with a touch more funk to them, which I'm sure you will know well. Back though to his Jackmate alias and he will soon be dropping a tasty new EP on the freshly minted 18437 Records. This new label is focused on the outer fringes of House and Techno and run by none other than Tooli of Local Talk fame. After teasing everyone with his recent 12" for Matthew Herbert's Accidental label, Jackmate is in full swing here. He also does Workshops for production and mixing, online and one on one slots, just send a PM him if interested!
A special mention to all of his International Pony remixes too :D

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #257 - Laurence Guy
We're very excited to welcome @laurenceguymusic to the SB guestmix series this week! He's definitely up there as one of our absolute favourites and his tracks have featured in so many of our radio shows that it started to get a bit ridiculous :)
The debut album on Church Records in 2017 was the starting point to our love of his music. “Saw You For The First Time” followed a string of very well received EPs and saw his name projected to new heights. His deliciously deep and moody sounds for our friends at Shall Not Fade were especially great to hear this past year at a time when it felt like the world was falling apart.
A restless digger, Laurence can be found rummaging through the dusty crates of his local charity shops looking for samples to expand his sound palate, some of which have made their way onto his edits label Accidental Pieces. Look for the 4th instalment on the 27th October.
He's got a brand new remix for Mild Minds that's just dropped on Ninja Tune so check that out here : https://smarturl.it/lg-ninjatune
If you want more of his brilliant DJ selections then make sure you tune into his RinseFM show... we've been asking for many a Track ID each month!

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #256 - James Curd
Another personal hero steps up to the platters that matter this week ... please welcome James Curd into the SB guest mix fray.
At nineteen Curd released his first track on the globally respected label “Basenotic” out of Paris. From there Curd created “Greenskeepers”, a name to represent himself and the wide range of music he wrote and the artists he collaborated with. As “Greenskeepers” Curd released an array of music on Classic records. He made his mark on the dance music world by infusing swing music and Chicago house to invent the term G-Swing, being short for Greenskeepers Swing. Curd focused on G-Swing and started a label by that same name to feature this unique sound. Around this same time Curd also owned and operated two other record labels “Igloo” and “Greenskeepers Music”. It's from this period that James cemented a corner in our hearts.
In the intervening period, James has continued to evolve, releasing on the likes of DFA, Gomma, Permanent Vacation, OM, and Defected to name but a few, and he recently returned to Marcel Vogul's Lumber Jacks in Hell imprint with his track 'Let's Get Get Get it'... and it was from there we were reminded... to get get get him in for a mix.
    Welcome to the weekend, everyone.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #255 - Horse Meat Disco
Luke Howard, James Hillard, Severino Panzetta and Jim Stanton are considering the connection between Love and Dancing, the title and twin driving engines behind their first artists’ album. Luke, James, Seve and Jim are the nightlife disciples behind Horse Meat Disco. In the 16 years their little Sunday soirée metamorphosed into a global phenomenon, HMD resuscitated the rich pulse, flavour and heart of dance music’s original bacchanal, handing it back in a frosted cocktail glass to the LGBTQ community disco first embraced. Their names are quite simply synonymous with Good Times.
‘We wanted the record to be about going out and coming home,’ says Luke. ‘From the beginning to the end of the night.’ At HMD, the communion of love and dancing braids seamlessly into one intricate knot. ‘For me, the idea of going out was always connected to the idea that I might meet somebody on the dancefloor. You go out with this hope, that you’ll have a good time but also that there might be somebody there, waiting for you at the end of it.’
Love and Dancing is a sensational, scholarly, elastic skirmish through the outer edges of disco, from soulful to cosmic, hands to the sky glamour and heads down boogie. Sample light, cover version free and diligently star-studded from across disco’s sparkling prism, it is the sound of here and now, nodding to the past while rollerblading into a brighter tomorrow, forever disco’s fleet-footed purpose.
To mark the birth of the album, HMD have provided us with this beaut of an instalment in the SlothBoogie Mix series... you know what time it is... it's time for the weekend.

  • SlothBoogie Guestmix #254 - Avision
Fortunate to grow up around the rich club culture of NYC and influenced by the sounds around him, Avision now finds himself helping to usher in a new wave of techno for the New York scene. Over the last couple of years, he’s had releases on a range of influential labels like Ellum, Drumcode, Hardgroove, Machine, We Are The Brave, Mindshake, Intec, On Edge Society, and many more. Support for his productions have been coming in strong from tastemakers like Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier, Joseph Capriati, and The Martinez Brothers to name a few.
Avision started young on the turntables at age 12, and his preference for a more mature sound lead to his first residency by the time he was 15. Recent touring highlights include gigs at The Brooklyn Mirage and Time Warp in NYC, Fabrik Madrid, Pacha Barcelona, Stereo Montreal, and Space Miami, as well as festivals like Elrow, The BPM Festival, and Dockyards in Amsterdam.
Avision’s legacy is growing through clubland like a supernova exploding in the farthest reaches of our galaxy…and he’s just getting started.
Here Anthony steps up to deliver a high energy, thumping disco and house mix to deliver you into the weekend with a b-b-b-b-bang!
