This week we welcome the smooth talking Melvo Baptiste into the SB mix series for an hour of the most in demand Disco sounds you could ask for! Melvo is the host of Glitterbox's massively popular radioshow and has enjoyed a meteoric rise in his career since joining the Defected sub brand in 2017. Since then he’s been a key figure in developing the brand into a good time party beacon that’s seen their flamboyant Ibiza parties go from strength to strength with each season. This year he’s been busier than ever with the Glitterbox record label side of the business taking off as well as holding down a resident DJing schedule that will see him getting some serious air miles under his belt.

Up this week is someone who shouldn't really need any introduction. House maestro, and all round top bloke... Jamie Odell, aka Jimpster.

Jamie wears many hats and wears them well. He's one of the most revered house producers/DJs on the scene and his labels Freerange and Delusions Of Grandeur continue to help break incredible new music which he brings to his DJ sets across the globe.

He'll be joining us on the 15th of June for the second party in our Basement Series at The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington... so grab yourself a ticket if you haven't already... https://www.residentadvisor.net/events/1218392

He's also been diggin' through the archive recently, and with the help of top label Craigie Knowes, will be re-releasing one of his first ever house records under his moniker Loxodrome... be sure to bag a copy before they disappear.

We welcome Berlin based Iron Curtis to the series this week with a deep dive of a mix that takes a languid trip through all of his eclectic styles and influences. As a DJ, he is as inspired and versatile as he is a producer, skilfully taking the dancefloor into the deep and diverse corners of modern dance music.

We were big fans of his Upstream Colour album last year and we're already looking forward to another round of remixes for that coming soon. He's also been busy in the studio with Session Victim and has a stack of releases already lining up for the likes of Office Recordings and Uncanny Valley.

On another tip he's got a side project called Moon – a collaboration with Johannes Albert from Frank Music, where the two friends exhibit their love for classic Electro and stripped down Techno. Berliners will be able to catch the pair playing at the beloved Hallo Montag party at Ipse this Monday (25.05.19) https://www.facebook.com/HalloMontag/

Otherwise he'll be touring the US and Bogota real soon so catch him on the road!

So in celebration of his LP as Kapote coming out and for being an absolute legend in music, we've got the man himself in for this weeks guestmix!. The mystery man who runs Toy Tonics, who now reveals that Kapote & Munk are in fact the same person. Both are aliases of Mathias Modica, the Italian/German music nerd, DJ, keyboard wizard, producer and clever clogs behind both Toy Tonics and GOMMA. Having developed the careers of Black Loops, Jad & The, Coeo, Mangabey and Rhodes & Brown, Mathias has also played instruments on many of these artists records. So strap the hell in and let's get it.

Be sure to grab his awesome LP here: https://bit.ly/2J5qKOD

DJ Counselling first grabbed our attention late last year with his Curt's Jam EP that was all kinds of deep rushy Lofi sounds. We prem'd the 'Myou Yeah Love' flip track and have been in touch ever since.

He's been sending us some deeeeliscious music so we decided to get him in on the guest mix for some upfront picks for everyone to vibe out to.

Expect more of that trademark lushness for the next hour and a bit so grab an early Friday cocktail and drift away into the weekend.

Sample friendly loopy house bro and Astropical Tapes founder Marcin Krupa is gracing us this week for our Guestmix. His recent work on Sour Edits has been a staple body of work for our USBs alongside the top tier material released on his label from the likes of Tech Support and Salary Boy. If this doesn't get you psyched for the weekend's festivities ahead then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Growing up in a family where D.Y.A was surrounded by all kinds of different music led to the mindset of appreciating each genre as equally important and eventually got him to draw inspiration from all kinds of music. As an university educated jazz drummer the concept of improvisation and aspiration for that one special musical moment is surely no secret to D.Y.A. While being Berlin based and a founding member of „SOLIDE“, a label and collective he runs along with fellow producers Kalyma and MYNY, translating these rather complex concepts from jazz into house music, wether we are talking about production or DJ Sets, has been one of D.Y.A ́s main goals.
