As residents of the South we have a host of experiences and pieces of culture that influence our lives as creators. Food is a huge part of such cultural experience and stars the show of our conversation this week in It Came From The South: Grits & Canvases.
The richness of our culture is enhanced by the different approaches we all have to the same things. Grits is a staple in Southern cooking and each person, family, community have their own ways of splashing their uniqueness onto the blank canvas that it is. The way we express ourselves as we create art has proven to have deep similarities to the way we express ourselves when we create food. Recipes or no recipes? A long & detailed brief with the whole team vs a quick catch-up with key players? Manners, strength, grit, polenta and even the Italians enter the chat, adding extra spice to the mix.
Listen as our South team Tammy, Crisy, Terrence and Camille are joined by Daniella from the East, showing us how similar we are even though we live as creative professionals in Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Jamaica and New York.
