GURU Talkin Sports

This episode was cut short. The ending was talking about how some ignorant people are not worthy of my time. For the person the made the bs comment, thank you and move on. The Philadelphia Eagles are a mess, and the GURU is calling out their medical staff. The Los Angeles Dodgers will NOT win a third straight World Series. The Milwaukee Brewers are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1982. The WNBA Finals started on Saturday with the Golden State Valkyries winning a close one against the Atlanta Dream. Jalen Hurts has a blood clot in his calf. I blame the Philadelphia Eagles medical staff. We will be back next week with Episode 333. Enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday. #Duuuuvall....lol.

In a very crazy week, we lost a true legendary person. Mike Ditka was just your ordinary NFL Head Coach. He was a great person that became a great player and a legend as a coach. We remember the 1985 Chicago Bears as a powerhouse and iconic team, but the two masterminds was Buddy Ryan's defense and Ditka's ability to keep all the personalities in check and to lead them. Rest in peace, Coach. We have the WNBA Finals are set. The Golden State Valkyries, in their second season are heading to Finals against the Atlanta Dream. The Dream hasn't made the finals since 2013, this should be a great one. Dream in 7. Oh yeah, the main thing was the fact that the Jacksonville Jaguars are in London to face off with... the Philadelphia Eagles....lol. Every year, the self-proclaimed Super Bowl Champs has won before the season started, NOT THIS TIME! The Eagles are limping into this week without their stars, and with the unexpected retirement of Lane Johnson and the depleted offensive line, they are a shell of themselves. The Jags have to stay focused on completing the task at hand, keeping the foot on their beaks. Thank you for listening and enjoy the rest of your TEAL SUNDAY. We will be back next week with Episode 332.

We are watching greatest everytime Jeremiah Smith touches the football. The Heisman Trophy front runner out did himself again, against a tough Iowa Hawkeye team that was hungry for another big win in back to back weeks. The Hawkeye were trying to beat Michigan and Ohio State for the first time in a while. Hey, I almost forgot, It's Hockey season, the NHL season started this week, more on it next weekend. The final four in the WNBA is set, the MLB Playoffs are down to the final eight. Confidence picks, Loser Survivor Pool, and some fantasy football news included as well. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday. We will be back next week with Episode 331.

Justin Verlander completed his major league career yesterday in Detroit, where it all started. One of the most prominent and dominate pitchers of our time, called it a career. The moment was very emotional, and it also had the GURU shedding a few tears as well. His next stop will be in Cooperstown New York. Iowa stunned Michigan on a two second touchdown pass. Please don't start with the karma comments, it could have happened to any team, in any game. The WNBA Playoffs starts today and there will be a lot of star power on tap. We have to say goodbye to Bill Giles, the building foundation of the Philadelphia Phillies from the late 60's to 2015. We also have confidence picks, Loser Survivor Pool and no pick six parlay this week. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday. We will be back next week with Episode 330.

Trey Mancini, when you mention his name, he will always be back as a Baltimore Orioles historical player. He retired yesterday as a Oriole. Class, grit, and overcoming the hard times to make it back to the majors. Thank you Trey. How about Jeremiah Smith, the all time leader in receiving yards in Ohio State history. LSU got their butts handed to them by Ole Miss. The revenge for Lane Kiffin is now complete. The GURU has the Loser Survivor Pool loser for this week, confidence picks and some fantasy news. Thank you for listening and enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday. We will be back next week with Episode 329.

Sometimes sports takes a back seat to life. This week, we lost to legendary stars in Hollywood. Tim Curry, the dancing transvestite from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, was 80. He had other credits included Amadeus and The Hunt For Red October, and several other major roles. The whole stopped with the news of the passing of Dolly Parton. One of the most successful County Music artists of all time. The tributes are still coming in for the girl from rural Tennessee, that will always be remembered around the world. Her fame wasn't just singing and acting, but helping everyone. Her Imagination Library is one of the biggest gifts to children all over the world. She was a true angel and will be missed. We will always love you, Dolly.
Thank you for listening and enjoy the rest of your week. We will be back next weekend, Labor Day weekend! We will resume sports talk.

The first Sunday of the NFL season kicks off in several hours. The GURU makes his season predictions and his Super Bowl teams. You gotta give Texas a lot of credit. Down by 20 points in the fourth quarter, teams were 0-197, but Arch Manning led the Longhorns over the Ohio State Buckeyes in Austin. Earlier this week, we lost a great mind in the hockey world. Barry Melrose was the most prominent voice on ESPN when talking about the NHL. Melrose was 70. Aryna Sabalenka lost the US Open title to Elena Rybakina, the Wimbledon champ. America Ben Shelton will take on the world's number one, Alexander Zverev for the Championship. We also take a few minutes to remember 25 years after September 11th. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your NFL Sunday.

First off Happy Heavenly birthday to Kobe Bryant, who would have celebrated his birthday on August 23rd. The Orioles got completely ROBBED on Wednesday when Pete Alonso home run was overturned. Happy trails to Nick Chubb, one of the best running backs over the past several years. RIP to Michael Harris, who played Eddie Kane (actually his name was King) in the 1991 film, The Five Heartbeats. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your week. We will be back next week with Episode 326.

A crazy week, We learned a few minutes before podcast that the legendary Tommy John had passed away. John will always be remembered for his 26 years in the Majors, but will live on with the ground breaking elbow surgery that made him famous. Last week after recording the podcast, we learned of the passing of Don Nelson. A legendary NBA Head Coach and a catalyst for the Boston Celtics. The NFL Pre Season is in full swing. Nothing big to look for, but Jeremiah Love, Fernando Mendoza, Drew Allar all looked great. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend. We will be back next week with Episode 325.

The MLB Trade Deadline has come and gone, with the Baltimore Orioles as the biggest losers. GM Mke Elias straight up lied to the Orioles fans, telling them they were 50 / 50 on buying or selling. They were selling! When you give away your franchise cornerstone to a divisional rival, that selling! The O's just gave up! The Dodgers are still making moves to keep their championship hopes alive! No Belichick, No HOF! It's a crime that the greatest coach of all time isn't in Canton. Plus more. Thanks for listening and enjoy the rest of your Sports Weekend, we will be back next week with Episode 324.
