Another episode of the new show Vulva Views. Amy and Alison speak about customs and norms in different areas of the world and how strict dress norms in certain cultures affect women more than men. They speak about the modesty culture, raising their daughters and how to speak to them about dressing fashionably, yet safely in a world where cat calls and sexual violence is still pervasive. How do we reconcile the perceptions of the world and how we WANT to dress as individuals and as communities?

GynoCurious tries a new format! Joining Dr. Amy Novatt is Allison Chawla, LCSW, a frequent guest on GynoCurious. During Vulva Views they will discuss 'universal themes"; issues they have observed as women clinicians, human beings and vulva havers (themselves) that seem to be omnipresent in their profession and personal lives. In this first episode, they discuss why vulva havers tend to keep concerns about physical ailments and emotional needs suppressed or attended to only after taking care of everyone else in their lives. Is it internalized patriarchy, medical gaslighting, a psychology unique to vulva havers, moms, care-providers? Is it about not having enough time or a lack of awareness? Amy and Allison weave personal and professional knowledge and experiences with observation to discuss these inquiries.
