John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN (1978) spawned a slasher movie trend that changed American horror forever. In addition to the Carpenter and Hill penned movie, we look at two films whose stories sprang from urban legends: WHEN A STRANGER CALLS (1979) starring Carol Kane and Charles Durning, and HE KNOWS YOU'RE ALONE (1980) which features young Tom Hanks, a cavernous morgue, and the worst detective in the tri-state area.
