On this episode of Hamilton Happy Hour, we're delighted to have Catherine Lan and Tao Lin as our guests. Both of them are incredibly skilled and accomplished solo pianists on their own, but they also perform together as Duo Beaux Arts, playing truly spectacular four-handed piano duets. They were a delight to have on the show, both of them were very charming and had lots of interesting and funny stories about how and why they got started playing piano and how their careers have taken them all over the globe to some truly incredible places. Along the way we discuss some of the history of the piano, and how it has evolved since the days of the classical composers, but has remained basically unchanged for the past 150 years; and whether or not you CAN play Bach's music on the piano.Of course, as usual, we manage to get some horror stories from them about the worst pianos they've had to play on.
