John 15: 1-17

This week we consider some of Jesus final words to his disciples as recorded in the Gospel of John. During this Farewell Discourse Jesus offers a powerful word picture that captures the relationship between Jesus and his disciples. Jesus is the Vine and his disciples are branches that are to bear fruit. We will consider this word picture and how it helps us understand the call to discipleship (or apprenticeship) to Jesus, which is the journey we are invited to join. When we have conflict with others, we're often unsure how to proceed. An easy answer is that we should "love them." But, what does love look like, especially when it comes to difficult relationships? We'll zoom in on 1 Cor. 13:7 - Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. We'll unpack those 4 "always" statements, and land on a practical challenge for loving a specific person that we have a difficult relationship with.
