Immeasurably More Than All We Ask or Imagine

Revelation 21:1-7

In Revelation, John sees and records in a vision “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” which was Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:20-21. From this vantage point we can see that what started as “Good” and was quickly broken, has now been restored and is now “Good” again. All because of the central figure: Jesus. Who could imagine?!?

This week we conclude our "All Things New" mini-series that wraps up our 31 week journey through "The Story." Our journey ends in the final book in the Bible - the Revelation (of Jesus Christ). The apostle John receives a vision of our good, promised future in Christ so that he might encourage the church who at the time was under persecution under Rome. We will focus on the final two chapters of Revelation which ignite the imagination around the new heaven and new earth that will come when Christ returns. How does this vision of our future inspire how we live in our present? Join us as we explore this question!

2 Timothy 2:1-13

This week we continue our "All Things New" mini-series that will conclude our journey through "The Story." We wrap up our look at the spread of the early church and focus our attention on Paul's return to Jerusalem which leads to his arrest and transport to Rome (Acts 21-28). We will consider Paul's last letter written before his execution to his apprentice Timothy. In 2 Timothy we will see Paul's heart to for faithful living in all of Christ followers for the sake of the Gospel. Faithfulness even in the face of serious hardship and suffering. Our hope is that these words will continue to encourage us as we join in this journey of being found in, formed by, and following Jesus.

Paul’s Final Days

2 Timothy 2:1-13

As Paul was nearing the end of his life, he wrote a letter to his disciple and partner in ministry Timothy. People’s final words can speak to the legacy that they are trying to leave with others and can offer some truth that simply needs to be heard and committed to our lives. As we listen into some of Paul’s last written words this week, I wonder what they might mean for us in our journey with Jesus.

Key Verse: Romans 1:17 - For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

How was it that a Pharisee named Saul became the Apostle named Paul? By faith, he received what Jesus offered him by grace, and was transformed. The person who began as “Saul the Killer” would join a journey that now knows him as “Paul the Messenger of Life.” The Gospel of God’s Grace changes Everything!

E Pluribus Unum

Acts 1:4-8, 2:1-11

“Out of the Many, One” You will read this aspirational statement on the Great Seal of the United States. But here in the Book of Acts we see that it is the work of the Holy Spirit through the Body of Christ – the Church. How could it be that so many different ethnicities could come together in a way that is genuinely unified while respecting distinctives? It could not happen apart from what Jesus did on the cross and then sending the indwelling Holy Spirit.
