This Sunday we continue the sermon series through the parables of Jesus we are calling "Scandal of Grace." We continue to consider how Jesus' parables were a way to challenge and change people's assumptions and perceptions of God's Kingdom. This week we look at the Parable of the Lost Son - another familiar parable to many. We will consider how the parable challenged the original audience and how it challenges us today. Then we will end our time considering Jesus and his response to the lost.

In God’s kingdom we encounter a Jesus who is purposefully patient in the face of evil while also promising a just judgment of evil. This is a tension that can be both frustrating and encouraging, but it is a tension that Jesus invites us to live into resting in the fact that He knows what He is doing.

Come and Ask: An Invitation To Self-Reflection

In this passage, Jesus clearly says that the message of the Kingdom is unclear until we ask Him about it. Then He graciously takes us one step deeper. The Kingdom of God is not about what you do or don’t do. It’s about what you are given, and what that gift then does in you!
