This Sunday we continue our journey through the New Testament book of Acts. We will study Paul's testimony before King Agrippa and consider how it might inform our call to be Christ's witnesses in the circles God has placed us. Our prayer is the Spirit would encourage us to be a gospel light through loving relationships in our community.

Are we ever really ready for death? What makes us willing to face it? This week we wrestle with questions like these as we explore how the resurrection of Jesus allowed Paul to be willing to face death and even welcome it for the right reasons.

Gospel Response

Acts 25:13-22

For the last couple of weeks, we have been considering Paul's final journey in the book of Acts. Two weeks ago, we considered how the Gospel compelled him to return to Jerusalem despite knowing he would face opposition there. Last week, we recognized the importance of integrity as Paul stood trial being falsely accused. This Sunday we shift our focus to those he stands before in Chapters 23-26 and consider their responses to this Gospel Paul presents to them. We will use this to help us understand how people might respond today and then consider what is most important - our own response to the good news of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

When the Rubber Meets the Road

“When the rubber meets the road” is a phrase that comes to mind when things get serious or when a theory becomes a reality. This week we get to explore one of these such moments for Paul and not only how he showed up in that moment, but also how that moment may impact our lives today.

This week we continue our summer long journey through the NT book of Acts following the Spirit's work to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Moving forward Paul will remain in Roman custody as he continues to testify to the gospel. This AM we will consider the importance of how - meaning how he lives, how he carries himself matters just as much as the message he brings. We will discuss integrity and why it is important especially in our modern context.

Heavenly Citizenship in a Corrupt and Dangerous World

Looking around him, we see Paul’s world breaking down in chaos: court proceedings corrupted by people in power, violence and death threats, religious riots and more. Life “on the horizontal” is threatening. How does Paul manage? How do we? By living in this moment “on the vertical,” as citizens of God’s Kingdom.

Famous Last Words

Acts 20:17-38

Our last words to someone can be a lasting legacy, a lasting challenge, and can speak multitudes about who we are, what we’ve tried to be, or even what we believe. This week in Acts 20 we will have the opportunity to hear some of Paul’s last words to people he deeply loved, and the impact those words can have on us today.

A Great Disturbance

This week our text (Acts 19) centers in the city of Ephesus - a religious and economic center in the Roman Provence of Asia (Modern Day Turkey). The influence of idolatry in Ephesus is greatly disturbed by the Way of Jesus who offers a better way to live. This Sunday we will use Luke's account to help us see the idols in our own lives that need to be disturbed by the good news of Jesus Christ.
