Part One: Furnace Fest Announced For 2021; Will It Be Cancelled?

Jack, Mike, and Nate presenting this episode of Hardly Focused! Jumping right into it, the group cover some of the things that went down this past week. They also discuss the mad amounts of money commercial jingle writers must make.

Can you believe a music festival was actually announced for later this year?! Let’s see if Furnace Fest ’21 actually happens. Jack, Mike and Nate discuss what bands they would actually travel to see play live.

Elsewhere, the city of Boston now allows musical performances inside restaurants. The catch? Performers cannot sing. Jack wonders why musicians can’t just perform with their face masks on.

Part Two: A Woman Finds An Entire, Empty Apartment Behind her Bathroom Mirror

This segment kicks off with Mike and Nate discussing Nate’s pick for Hardly Shuffled; “Army” by Ben Folds Five. Nate tells Mike and Jack about Nirvana The Band The Show, the ending theme of which is “Army.” The show features a musician whose side gig escapes Nate (spoiler: he recalls the gig at the end of this segment.)

Meanwhile, in New York City a woman makes the news for discovering an empty, hidden apartment neighboring hers. Seemingly, she can only enter this apartment through a hole behind her bathroom mirror. Jack makes a note to follow-up on this story, for only in Manhattan do these things happen!

Part One: Easing COVID Restrictions, and Gender Neutral Potatoes

Jack and Nate are presenting this installment of Hardly Focused! Nate kicks off the episode by discussing his venture into TikTok, saying it’s working out better than his YouTube channel. He’s still on YouTube, and you can find him on the Sbassbear Comedy channel.

Around the world, it was a busy week for sure. Jack and Nate discuss the CDC warning that Massachusetts is easing COVID restrictions too soon. Also in the news; “Potato Head,” formerly Mr. and Mrs., now gender neutral. Jack, while understanding why it’s done, expresses his discontent for people calling out their preferred gender pronouns. This leads him and Nate to further discuss cancel culture – a popular topic on this show – and how it continues to be ridiculous.

Part Two: The Surgeon versus The Judge, and The Weather versus The Idiot

Jack begins this segment by turning attention to the Hardly Shuffled playlist on Spotify. Need new music? Follow the show’s playlist today; it’s updated regularly!

In more Zoom mishap news, Jack features audio and video of a doctor who attempted to join his court hearing while performing surgery. Needless to say, the hospital for which he works is not pleased.

Elsewhere, Nate brings to the table news that people seriously believe “fake snow” exists. This gets him and Jack discussing weather, namely David Lynch‘s daily weather updates. Also discussed – Frankie the Weatherman, the only meteorologist you should trust!

    RIP Daft Punk.

  • 493: Stick Drift

On this edition of The Acc and Jack Show, Acc and Jack discuss video games! It’s actually pretty amazing when discussing such a topic makes the time go by in an instant. Jack doesn’t even get to the discussion points he planned for this one.

Kicking off this episode with a grammatical curiosity, Acc and Jack discuss the old Sega Dreamcast game “Typing of the Dead.” Jack is convinced advertising for this game featured the Mavis Beacon character as a zombie. Much like “my mom’s cooking potatoes,” this could just be the Mandela effect striking again.

Elsewhere, with it soon available to enjoy on PC, Acc has interest in the Kingdom Hearts series. It doesn’t help that most of the games in this series employ the weirdest naming conventions. To that end, “PC Master Race” Acc also has no idea what the new generation of game consoles are called.

Wrapping up, Acc talks about one of the few instances where Nintendo disappoints. For Jack, video game disappointment comes largely in the form of “live service” games. One game that does not disappoint, however – Undertale. Do what Jack did and build a $1,000 gaming computer to enjoy it!

Part One: The Return of Intern Skippy!

Jack and Mike and here presenting an important Valentine’s Day edition of Hardly Focused! For the first time in nearly a decade, former show intern Joe “Skippy” Anders returns to the show. Longtime listeners from the Talk Radio Meltdown-era may remember Skippy as the kid who got in trouble during a bar event for being in the pub underage.

A fellow musician, Skippy discusses the COVID pandemic’s effect on the live music industry. Jack wonders if people will start buying albums again, since concerts are being sidelined indefinitely. He also argues that bands who currently live stream their shows need to back them with gimmicks, else fans won’t pay to watch.

Part Two: Nirvana Reunion, and Zoom Cat Filters

Jack kicks off this segment by discussing Foo Fighters’ recent appearance on Howard Stern’s show. Dave Grohl mentions that when he, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic meet up, they regularly and privately perform Nirvana songs. Jack, Mike, and Skippy discuss who could best front a Nirvana reunion, with John McCauley from Deer Tick being the favorite.

Elsewhere, an unfortunate lawyer vent viral for joining a virtual court hearing with a cat Zoom filter active. Jack asks the room if they’ve had their own Zoom mishaps, or witnessed any during professional work meetings.

Part Three: “How Fucking Dumb Are You?” feat. Gorilla Glue

Gorilla Glue is the topic in this edition of “How Fucking Dumb Are You?” Thank God that impeachment is over, else we’d have nothing to talk about!

A woman is out of surgery after using Gorilla Glue spray on her hair in lieu of actual product. Meanwhile, a Louisiana man attempts to downplay the severity of the previous story by sticking to his face a Solo cup covered in liquid Gorilla Glue. Mensa candidates, the both of them!
