The pregnant 33 year old and her 2 children under 10 were slain in their own home by the depraved 17-year-old Daniel LaPlante. He is better known for his previous crimes of hiding in the walls of a young woman he was obsessed with Tina Bowen. Kelly and Sam discuss the particulars of the case, and turn over the questions: where does mental illness fit in this picture? How does nature vs. nurture come into play? This week Sam brings you the unsolved missing persons case of Asha Degree. Asha was 9 years old in 2000 when she left her home in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm. After being seen by a couple of truck drivers walking along the highway in the rain Asha was not seen again. If you have any information on where Asha could be please contact the FBI at (704) 672-6100 or the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office at (704) 484-4822. There is a $45,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest of the person responsible for Asha’s disappearance.

This week Kelly brings Sam a case that has been cold for 30 years. When Christine Belusko's body was found her murder had been so brutal that she was only identifiable by a scorpion that had been tattooed on her butt cheek. Unfortunately, that was all the investigators knew in 1991. District Attorney Michael E. McMahon announced in 2021 that investigative work combined with forensic genealogy solved the identification of Christine's body. She was no longer a Jane Doe or "The Girl with the Scorpion Tattoo". They worked the case doggedly until they discovered Christine's biological family...and learned that her daughter Christa was missing as well. In 1991 she was just 2 years old. Help Sam and Kelly untangle the story of Christine Belusko and if anyone has any information on the murder of Christine Belusko or the whereabouts of her daughter Christa Nicole Belusko the agency to contact is the Richmond County District Attorney's Office 718-876-6300 with tips.
