With less than a week to go before the arrival of the 2023 NBA trade deadline, the first cracks in the current order of the league are beginning to show, erupting into prominence with yet another trade request from the roster of the Brooklyn Nets, though this time with former Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.
And while it may be fun to relish the schadenfreude in Brooklyn after what the Nets front office put Boston fans through over the summer with the Kevin Durant trade request, the more important issue embedded in this drama is how the 2023 deadline will shape the face of the league.
With a general consensus that no major moves are incoming for the Celtics in the Boston media, the bigger question seems to be how the league will change around the team more than how the team itself may change via trades. To that end, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast teamed up with Bleacher Report's Dan Favale to try and get a bead on what the NBA might look like come Feb. 10.
We of course do our due diligence regarding what we're hearing about Boston's hopes at the deadline, but we do our best to divine what major moves might be coming down the pike at the end of one of the craziest weeks in the NBA calendar year.

The Boston Celtics have been putting in the work behind the scenes all season on ways they can improve the team via trade and with the 2023 NBA trade deadline less than two weeks away, more rumbles about what they might be looking to accomplish before the end of the day on Feb. 9.
While it seems unlikely that the Celtics will be making any blockbuster moves, there's been chatter that the front office is looking for additional depth on the wing and in the frontcourt. With both the team's starting big men and star wings having played heavy minutes through the first half of the season, finding some players who can at least play some significant regular season minutes if not a postseason role as well.
To get to the bottom of what NBA insiders are hearing about what the Celtics hope to do this offseason, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast linked up with The Athletic's Jared Weiss to talk all things 2023 NBA trade deadline.
We also get caught up on Boston's play of late, some recent injuries to key players, and other issues of note.

If there is an elephant left in the room that is the Boston Celtics' 2022-23 campaign, it is the sting of their loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals -- and the prospect of ending up facing them again in the final round of the 2023 postseason.
While it might not be true anymore that the Dubs are living in the heads of the Celtics' roster collectively after their hot start in the first half of this season, their only showdown thus far ending so badly -- and familiar -- for Boston suggests it very well could still be the case. Now, with the Celtics set to square off with the Dubs on their home court of TD Garden for the second and final time this season, will we see a Boston squad that has exorcised their finals demons? Or will we see the veteran savvy and elite play of Golden State stymying the Cs once again?
To talk it over, we brought in our in-house expert from our USA TODAY sister site Warriors Wire, editor Tommy Call III.
Join your usual hosts as we dive deep into everything Dubs-Cs, as well as recent excellence from Jayson Tatum, Boston's injury woes, and whether we'd prefer to see a shift in thinking about what to do at the 2023 NBA trade deadline among other issues.

The Boston Celtics have the best record in the NBA and despite a few glaring losses, have put together one of the best resumes in the league when it comes to beating top talent in the 2022-23 regular season so far. Yet fans, likely still smarting from the 2022 Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors, still want more when it comes to teambuilding ahead of the 2023 NBA trade deadline.
What do the Celtics need, if anything? What is possible for them to do in terms of making deals to improve the roster? More importantly, what's likely to happen before the deadline passes?
To try and prognosticate what might be coming down the pike for Boston before the Feb. 9 cutoff date to make trades in the league this season, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast linked up with HoopsHype cap expert Yossi Gozlan to talk over the range of possibilities.
Though it seems not improbable that any moves the Celtics make will be relatively minor, the possibility for larger swings still exists, and we get into all of the ways it could happen, along with more modest proposals in the confines the team has to work within.

The Boston Celtics will face the Brooklyn Nets later this week with the Eastern Conference's top spot potentially at stake, and while a bit of the wind has been taken out of the proverbial sails of the matchup with Nets star Kevin Durant out for the game with a sprained MCL as well as an outside shot of Marcus Smart missing the contest with a contused knee, it will still be a very important game for the Celtics.
More data for a potential postseason collision, the aforementioned top spot in play, and a chance to see if Boston will play the way they should despite the absence of KD all loom large. The growth of Brooklyn bigs Nick Claxton and Ben Simmons also figures to be a point of concern, and any time the team crosses paths with Kyrie Irving, things get intense.
To that end, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast linked up with the host of the Off the Glass "Brooklyn Buzz" podcast Nick Fay to talk all things Celtics-Nets.
The foursome get into how Durant's absence may impact the MVP race, what sort of trade targets each squad might have interest in at the 2023 NBA trade deadline, and more.

The Boston Celtics have a key part of their 2022-23 schedule unfolding over the next week, particularly with rematches against the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls on tap. How the Celtics respond to losses against the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder may go a long way toward determining whether the Celtics break out of their slump longer term, with a tilt with the Brooklyn Nets for perhaps what could be the top spot in the East looming on January 12.
To that end, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" linked up with Bulls Wire and Dallas Basketball editor Mike Mulford to talk about Boston's tilts with the Mavs and Chicago, as well as the state of the MVP and All-Star starter race.
The foursome even touches on a potential Javonte Green reunion with the Celtics should the Bulls look to recoup some assets if their season continues to go sideways.
Check out the clip embedded above to get up to speed on an important week for Boston, and where they stand in terms of All-Star starters as voting begins for the first round.

It might be a bit early for a lot of the Boston Celtics' fans to talk about who is where in the race for the NBA's season-long hardware, but this is the part of the season when the narratives driving most of those awards start to take hold. Where are the Celtics in terms of All-NBA, Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Coach of the Year, and other accolades Boston has a shot at winning?
To get into the weeds of who might garner what honors this season as the Celtics' competition at the top of the East starts to heat up, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast linked up with Basketball News' Ethan Fuller to talk over the narratives driving these awards.
The crew also talks about the tightening race in the Eastern Conference, Robert Williams III's return, Payton Pritchard trade rumbles, and more.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to get ahead of the annual accolades debate as the order of each conference begins to solidify this season.

The Boston Celtics are poised to play in one of the major milestone games of the 2022-23 NBA season against the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day, and whether or not you believe it should be the case, a lot of narratives surrounding contention odds, the MVP, and even All-Star races may be impacted by that contest.
But what can we really learn about the state of the East, the cases to take home season-long hardware, and how each team is playing now (and might play in the postseason) based on what we will see on December 25th? What should we be watching for, and which players should we focus our attention on as Boston faces Milwaukee and Giannis Antetokounmpo as well as their other near-term games?
To get a bead on the state of the Celtics and their peers in the East, the hosts of the Celtics Lab podcast linked up with USA TODAY's Jeff Zillgitt to talk over the Celtics' recent play, our expectations for the big national TV game and beyond, and more.
Get up to speed on Boston's Christmas Day prospects, as well as what we can glean from their recent stumbles and their schedule to close out December.

The holidays have arrived in earnest and with them an important tradition not only for the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast but the wider Boston Celtics and NBA community: a time to air our grievances as we host our second annual Festivus for the Rest of Us episode.
While we spend most of our time with our airing of annual irks directed at the Celtics and the league they play in, as is our tradition, we also make time to air our issues with the world at large. And this holiday season, we've recruited Kai Zen master and eternal sports optimist Jam Packard of The Athletic's "Anything is Poddable" podcast to get into the teeth of what's been getting under our skin this year.
Be sure to tune in for a veritable feast of our festive annoyances, and while we're not entirely sure such a thing exists, we're pretty sure you get the point.
We also cover the news of late, but given how Boston has been playing lately, we wouldn't blame you if you confused that for grievances too.

For just the second time this season, the Boston Celtics have lost two games in a row, with the team clearly in a funk as a result. With the Celtics' vibes in the gutter, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" reached out to Pete Rogers of Nerdball Fantasy Football to try and shift the vibes back toward a winning direction.
If you're confused, it's likely because we buried the lede here -- Pete is better known to Boston fans as the guy who makes the new Celtics jerseys every time the ball club puts another notch in the win column.
We talk about how he got started with the graphic design hijinks, his favorites so far, their inspiration, as well as what might be coming down the pike.
We even pick his brain at the end of the pod on Fantasy Football tips just in time for the playoffs and spend some time earlier in the pod paying tribute to Celtics great Paul Silas, who left us this week.
Join Alex Goldberg, Cameron Tabatabaie, and Justin Quinn for a much-needed vibes reset on the latest Lab.
