  • Getting to know Paolo Banchero and other high-impact 2022-23 rookies with Cody Taylor

The Boston Celtics passed the first test of their 2022-23 campaign on opening night against the Philadelphia 76ers with flying colors but immediately headed to Florida where they will have another tough out against the Miami Heat.

After that, the intensity level will drop a bit, but with potential Rookie of the Year candidate Paolo Banchero joining Euroleague sensation Franz Wagner and a talented supporting cast, the Magic will likely no longer be a "gimme" win for Boston and the rest of the league.

To talk about the new faces entering the league like Keegan Murray, Jaden Ivey, and Bennedict Mathurin who might surprise the Celtics a bit in their new homes around the league, we brought on Rookie Wire's Cody Taylor to get us up to speed on which rookie players Boston and their fans ought to have on their radar for 2022-23.

Join your usual hosts Alex Goldberg, Justin Quinn, and Cameron Tabatabaie as we dive into Boston's season opener, the state of Timelord's knee rehab, and the rest of the NBA news now that the regular season is finally back.

  • Breaking down Boston's season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers with Ky Carlin

Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at TD Garden as the Celtics seek to start their long journey (hopefully) back to the NBA Finals.

Long before that may happen, however, they will need to play each of the 82 games on the schedule, starting with the new and improved Sixers roster that has added players like PJ Tucker, Anthony Melton, Montrezl Harrell, and Danuel House to a leading Most Valuable Player candidate Joel Embiid, a healthy, in-shape James Harden, and a rising young star in Tyrese Maxey.

Will a Celtics roster missing Robert Williams III and just returning Luke Kornet from a sprained ankle be ready to take on Philly's frontcourt? Will Boston's new additions be enough to counter a healthy Harden and Maxey alongside Embiid?

To get a read on the Sixers ahead of the season opener, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast linked up with Sixers Wire editor Ky Carlin to talk about the two teams' start to the 2022-23 season.

  • Catching up with Tacko Fall on his new book, the CBA, and ties to the Celtics

Fans of the Boston Celtics know the story behind Tacko Fall's journey from Senegal to the US, making his way through the ranks to get to collegiate and then NBA basketball, signing with the Celtics in 2019 after what was at times a harrowing journey filled with obstacles Fall needed to find a way past to continue chasing his dream as a professional basketball player.

Now, the UCF product has penned a children's book to inspire others who may feel the path toward their dreams is just too hard to travel. Fall's book, "Tacko Fall: To New Heights," is already out in bookstores, co-written with agent Justin Haynes with art by renowned children's book illustrator Reggie Brown.

To talk to him about his book, his new team in the Chinese Basketball Association, his time in Boston, and the Celtics season to come, Cameron Tabatabaie of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast caught up with Fall recently.

Check out the clip embedded above to hear everything from how he likes his new team to the story of how he met Grant Williams (it involves a failed dunk).

  • Honoring Bill Russell's legacy and talking Boston basketball with Rep. Ayanna Pressley

The Boston Celtics became the cornerstone franchise of the NBA because of Hall of Fame big man Bill Russell, but the iconic center's legacy cast a shadow not only over the history of the league itself, but American culture more broadly as a central figure of the US Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

Like many of us, Rep. Ayanna Pressley is a fan of Russell's for both basketball and social justice reasons, as well as being no small part of several efforts to give the legendary figure his flowers in the form of his statue in the city of Boston and a resolution honoring his legacy of works extending far beyond the basketball court.

Rep. Pressley joined us on the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast for our most recent episode to talk about Russell's impact on the Celtics, the city of Boston, and our society writ large.

She joined your usual hosts Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn to chop it up about last season's Finals run, this season's team, and they even debate the relative strengths of clam chowder vs. Chicago hotdogs as arena food.

Make sure you don't miss this episode of the Lab or miscast our representative of Massachusetts seventh district as a Bulls fan -- either would be a very big unforced error indeed.

  • Talking training camp and setting season goals with Gary Gulman

The Boston Celtics are doing their best to get past the Ime Udoka scandal and injuries to multiple frontcourt players by focusing on the season ahead and the players -- and coaches -- who are in the building to work on the goal of hanging a banner in Boston at the end of this season.

After a tense Media Day on Monday with players seeming to know about as much as fans and analysts do about the details of the situation leading to Udoka's suspension (i.e. not much), the team seemed eager to get to work on the foundation of their 2022-23 campaign.

With all that in mind, we brought on friend of the pod Gary Gulman to join your usual hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast to talk about training camp and goals for the season ahead.

Join Alex Goldberg, Justin Quinn, and Cameron Tabatabaie as they dive into what we're seeing -- and hope to see -- from the Celtics, their coach, and the front office this season.

  • What we know (and what we don't) about the Ime Udoka situation

As if having key rotation players out injured before the start of a season the Boston Celtics are expected to contend for a title wasn't enough, a new scandal threatens to engulf the Celtics and their 2022-23 season before it even starts.

That scandal is of course the unfolding account of Boston head coach Ime Udoka and his alleged looming yearlong suspension resulting from a consensual relationship with a Celtics staffer, marred by poor reporting and rampant speculation from all corners.

In an emergency podcast to breakdown what little we actually know about the situation, its potential impact on the team and season ahead, and the issues compounding the situation in the media and beyond, the hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast dove into the mess that is the current Celtics news cycle.

Join Cameron Tabatabaie, Justin Quinn, and Alex Goldberg in a regrettably unexpected pod to get up to speed on this unfolding, slow-moving disaster.

  • All things Boston Celtics and NBA2K with Ronnie 2K

Remember when the biggest blip on the Boston Celtics' horizon was gripes about the newest ratings of their players in the latest NBA 2K ratings update? We certainly do after a day of chaos in the organization tied to a scandal surrounding Celtics head coach Ime Udoka that broke just after we finished recording this episode.

In it, we talk with NBA 2K frontman Ronnie 2K about the latest iteration of the game, the Celtics in it, how they feel about their ratings, how it's made, and what might be coming down the pike. We even get into how Ronnie's looming wedding and host Cameron Tabatabaie's tweets made it into the game.

We do NOT talk about Udoka, of course, given the timing. But there's plenty of news about Boston's training camp prospects and other less incendiary topics to spell you from the whirlwind engulfing the Celtics at present.

Join hosts Alex Golberg, Justin Quinn, and Cameron as we talk all things 2K, and sort through all the news that seemed so much more serious 24 hours ago than it does now.

Buckle up folks, this is going to be a rough week.

  • Projecting the order the East and talking on the NBA's Robert Sarver reaction with Zak Noble

With training camp just around the corner at the end of September, rosters around the NBA's Eastern Conference are starting to morph into the form they will be in at the start of the 2022-23 season. Drawing on the state of rosters at the moment, one can get a general idea of what the East's order (and the Boston Celtics spot in it) might look like if the rosters on opening day remained the same until the end of the season.

That of course never happens, but one can't predict trades before they happen (with rare exceptions), so the folks at the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast got together with Zak Noble of Ball Is Life's "Noble and Roosh" podcast to try to project what the East might look like come April.

We also spend some time talking through the sordid affair of Phoenix Suns Governor Robert Sarver and the reaction to the NBA's attempt to address it, so if that's not your bag, drop into the pod at about the 14-minute mark.

Join hosts Alex Goldberg, Cameron Tabatabaie, and Justin Quinn as they try to get a bead on how the East will play out this season while we close in on Boston's 2022 training camp.

  • Does the NBA have enough talent to expand, and how might it affect the Boston Celtics if they did?

In the dog days of summer, amidst the worst of the NBA content desert, a whisper of expansion has caught the attention of the league's most faithful fans. Since pushed back on by those in the know as this topic seems to see every time rumors of adding new teams to the league tends to go, it has still captured our collective imaginations of what such a scenario might look like.

And as NBA commissioner Adam Silver has said in the past, the league will expand at some point, so some daydreaming about a league with 32 (or more!) teams is not entirely a pointless exercise, as any such expansion will have an impact not only on what teams the Boston Celtics play, but also our favorite team itself.

But is the NBA ready to add more teams? Would the talent be stretched too thin? What players might the Celtics protect from being taken by these new teams in an expansion draft, and which players left unprotected might get grabbed?

On the latest episode of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast, hosts Justin Quinn, Alex Goldberg, and Cameron Tabatabaie put their heads together to answer these questions with a mock three-team expansion draft.

Check out the clip embedded above to hear our methodology and results on this episode of the Lab, as well as the latest news trickling in this late in the offseason.

  • Talking hoops and the Celtics season to come with Maura Healey

It isn't very often that a candidate for a major political office in the United States is also a huge fan of the sport of basketball, to say nothing of the Boston Celtics. It's even less common that they are scholars of the game's history. And it's nearly unheard of one being all that and a former pro in the sport.

But that would be an excellent way to describe the current Democratic candidate for Governor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Maura Healey. Currently the state's Attorney General since 2014, Healey has previously been co-captain of the Harvard Crimson women's basketball team and played overseas in Austria for UBBC Wustenrot Salzburg.

Healey has thrown her hat in the ring for the Governorship, but she doesn't just stick to politics; a serious fan of the Celtics and the sport in general, she spent her years as a player donning No. 14 in honor of Celtics legend Bob Cousy, and her time playing the sport inflects her work as a politician today.

The hosts of the CLNS Media "Celtics Lab" podcast got a chance to sit down with her to talk about the Celtics of today and our past, the sport more broadly.

At the end of the pod (so you can drop out if that's not your thing), we talk about her plans and tasks ahead if she wins the race to be 73rd Governor of Massachusetts.

Join your usual hosts Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn for one of our favorite interviews in some time, as well as the trickle of news coming in from Donovan Mitchell's trade to the Cleveland Cavs to rumbles of what Boston might do to fill their final remaining open roster slots.
