This is a follow up episode to the previous episode on Friendship Matters, where we talk about what are all the necessary skills or areas that we need to strengthen or to increase awareness around to be able to deepen our current relationships with our friends, romantic relationships or at home. I talk about the importance of mindset and the awareness of our thoughts when we are making the effort to make new friends or deepen the connection, about the need to have a vison and awareness of what we need and are looking for on a friend, about green flags in relationships to look out for and what are some of the areas that might need healing to increase our levels of adaptability, flexibility, trust and vulnerability, that are crucial in the formation of deeper bonds. If you want to learn more, please listen to the previous episodes on the importance of attachment theory "Attachment Styles and AEDP Therapy with Christy O'Shoney" and Healing from Complex Trauma with Attachment Informed EMDR with Dr. Gillian O'Shea Brown. If you also find this episode please share it with your friends and family to help us all achieve deeper connections in our lives.

It there is anything that you want to work on, heal from, or dimmish an anxiety without having to talk about it or “go through it” or “feel it to heal it” this is the episode for you. On this episode, I had an in-depth conversation about his background, the difference between Clinical Hypnotherapy and the Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy he practices today, and how and why it works to re-program your subconscious mind by quieting down the judgmental pre-frontal cortex without having to go through what happened to you. We discussed that for the cases where we do have to “go through it” how he has experience that Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is the fastest and safest way to go through a trauma to heal it. I had this extremely interesting conversation with Johanna Lynn who is the Founder of The Family Imprint Institute Training and who has over 15 years of experience in this modalities since becoming certified in them with The Family Constellations Institute and The inherited Trauma Institute. Before focusing on Inherited Trauma she was a Clinical Hypnotherapist certified by the National Guild of Hypnotherapist and she has a Masters in Neurolinguistics Programing.
On this episode we spoke about the history of Inherited Trauma and Family Constellations, and why and how it works. We also spoke in detail about one of her expertise, how to use family constellations when healing money issues and why we can’t save money or we can’t stop spending. Is this fear or anxiety mine? Or where does it come from? We talked about how despite us trying to avoid family sometimes, there is no avoiding .. epigenetically, biogenetically we carry our family with us..and hence, the importance of staying curious versus furious and how to successfully navigate this important territory.

In the last few episodes of the HealIN Podcast, we start to understand the relationship with how our life experiences and traumas can affect our physical health, and in this episode, we expand the conversation to how nutrition and mindfulness can affect it too. I had a great conversation with Dr. Basma Faris who was my OBGYN here in NYC and we talked about her journey to include a nutritional lense into her OBGYN practice, and why there is sadly so little emphasis on the importance of nutrition in medical training. We discussed the importance of certain foods to support different stages in our lives, and particular foods that we can decrease in our lives to prevent the formation of fibroids or the hardening of our arteries. We talked about the importance of understanding the barriers to change in the adoption of better eating habits before knowing how to support someone and she shared her personal journey into mindfulness and how this has transformed her to the person and excellent physician that she is today. More importantly, she shared how she is now merging her two passions as the Founder of PollyPrepMD, supporting women with PCOS! You can learn more about Dr. Basma Faris on her website at www.pollyprepmd.com and on social media at @drbasmafaris or @pollyprep or Dr. Basma Faris on LinkedIN.
