  • Healing Mindset and Self-Love: Reprogramming Your Subconscious Mind with Mike Murphy

What if healing is less about staying positive and more about finally getting to know yourself? On The Healing Mindset, host Ria sits with Mike Murphy to explore why old patterns keep repeating and how they begin to loosen.

Mike shares the intention practice that helped him rebuild his life, and why slipping up never means starting over.

    About the Guest:

Mike Murphy is an author and course creator based in California, and founder of Mountains of Hope, a healing center in Colombia. A father of four and grandfather of ten, he draws on his own journey through a troubled youth and recovery.

    Key Takeaways:
    • Healing begins with knowing, accepting, forgiving and then loving yourself.
    • You are not your thoughts. You can choose where your attention rests.
    • Much of what we believe was absorbed in childhood, and it can be gently rewritten.
    • Write your intentions as if they already exist, across each area of life.
    • When you slip up, you do not give up. You begin again from further along.

  • Healing Mindset and Self-Compassion: Tiffany Sharp on the Messy Middle

Healing rarely looks the way it does online. If you have ever wondered why you are not over it yet, or felt ashamed for still struggling, this conversation is for you.

On The Healing Mindset, host Niharika talks with Tiffany Sharp about healing as an ongoing process, the self-doubt and comparison that keep us stuck, and why self-compassion comes before change. You will leave with gentle, practical ways to come back to yourself.

    About the Guest:

Tiffany Sharp is the founder of The Diamond Place, which supports women rebuilding after hardship. She is based in Denver, Colorado.

    • Name the emotion. Tiffany finds it loosens its hold.
    • Find what settles your nervous system: breathing, meditation, or for Tiffany, cold plunging.

  • Healing Mindset and the Subconscious Mind: Leo Dulay on Changing Patterns

Most of us carry old stories about who we are and what we deserve. If you keep repeating the same patterns and wonder why positive thinking never lasts, this conversation is for you.

On The Healing Mindset, host Ria talks with Leo Dulay about healing the subconscious mind, finding the root cause behind triggers, and why feeling stuck is a signal, not a sentence. You will leave with a gentler way to begin, one belief at a time.

    About the Guest:

Leo Dulay spent 22 years in the corporate world before a layoff during COVID led him to NLP and hypnotherapy. He now teaches both and is the author of You Are Not Your Past.

    Key Takeaways:
    • Forced positivity can help for a while, but Leo finds it fades until the root cause is addressed.
    • Being open is not reliving the past. It is changing how you think about it.
    • Acknowledging where you are is the beginning.
    • Start with awareness: notice the patterns and beliefs you keep defaulting to.
    • Setbacks are not your fault. One belief, one pattern, one decision at a time.

  • You Are Not Your Thoughts: How to Change Your Inner Dialogue | Kimberly Braun

What if the thoughts running through your mind aren't actually who you are?

We all have an inner voice. Sometimes it encourages us, but other times it repeats old fears, limiting beliefs and stories about ourselves that we have carried for years.

In this episode of The Healing Mindset, host Ria welcomes Kimberly Braun, a minister, spiritual teacher, author and meditation practitioner, for an exploration of negative self-talk, self-awareness, inner healing and the power of changing our relationship with our thoughts.

Drawing on her spiritual journey, years spent living in a monastery and decades of teaching and guiding others, Kimberly challenges the belief that our thoughts define our identity.

She explains why repetitive thinking patterns can feel deeply ingrained and why lasting change may begin not by fighting the mind, but by creating space between our thoughts and our deeper sense of self.

Together, Ria and Kimberly explore how identity, fear, past experiences and the need to belong can shape our internal narratives.

Kimberly introduces practices such as silent observation, meditation, breathwork and guided reflection to help people develop a more compassionate relationship with their minds.

She also discusses the importance of reconnecting with moments of peace, joy and connection—experiences that can remind us there is more to who we are than the stories we repeatedly tell ourselves.

Rather than approaching personal growth through self-punishment or constant pressure to improve, Kimberly encourages a gentler path grounded in awareness, curiosity and compassion.

The central message: You don't have to believe every thought you think. You can learn to observe your inner dialogue without allowing it to define your entire identity.

This conversation offers a reflective perspective for anyone struggling with negative thinking, self-doubt or the feeling that they cannot escape old mental patterns.

    About Kimberly Braun:

Kimberly Braun is a minister, spiritual teacher, author and speaker whose work focuses on self-discovery, meditation, spiritual connection and personal transformation.

In the interview, Kimberly describes beginning her spiritual exploration at approximately five years old, later spending several years living in a monastery and completing seminary and graduate studies.

She shares that she has spent approximately 25 years teaching, speaking, writing and helping people from diverse backgrounds reconnect with their deeper sense of self.

Her offerings include books, online courses, community gatherings, meditation experiences and other spiritual resources.

    Guest website mentioned: kimberlybraun.com

    Key Takeaways:
    1. You are more than your thoughts. Kimberly encourages separating your identity from the ongoing narrative of the mind.
    2. Negative thought patterns can become habitual. Repeated thoughts can feel automatic and difficult to change.
    3. Your sense of identity shapes your inner dialogue. Roles, expectations and past experiences can influence how you see yourself.
    4. Awareness creates room for change. Observing thoughts can help you respond differently instead of automatically following them.
    5. You don't need to fight your mind. Kimberly presents the mind as a useful human faculty rather than an enemy.
    6. Meditation and breathwork can support reflection. Simple practices may help people cultivate greater awareness and calm.
    7. Joy can be part of personal growth. Transformation does not always need to involve deprivation or self-punishment.
    8. Small moments of connection matter. Experiences of stillness, beauty and peace can help people reconnect with themselves.
    9. Question inherited beliefs. Some ideas about ourselves come from social expectations and experiences rather than deliberate choices.
    10. Self-compassion supports inner healing. Understanding your patterns without harsh judgment can make change feel more approachable.
    11. Spiritual identity is central to Kimberly's perspective. She encourages exploring a deeper sense of self beyond external roles.
    12. You can develop a new relationship with your inner voice. Healing may involve changing how much authority you give your thoughts.

  • What If Healing Means Protecting What You Still Have? | Gaylen Wilson

What if the most damaging part of a relationship argument isn't what you're fighting about, but what happens to your emotional connection while you're fighting?

In this episode of The Healing Mindset, Gaylen Wilson shares the relationship philosophy he developed with his wife, Heather, through their work as relationship coaches and their own long-term partnership.

Drawing inspiration from attachment theory and Dr. Sue Johnson's work, Gaylen explores how disagreements can trigger defensive reactions, leaving couples feeling threatened, misunderstood or disconnected.

He introduces the Monument Method, a framework that encourages partners to view their relationship as something they're building together.

Every act of kindness, affection and connection adds to that shared monument. Hurtful words, dismissive behavior and unresolved conflict can damage it.

Gaylen explains why protecting the relationship should matter more than winning an argument.

He also describes the couple's use of a mutually agreed-upon word—“monument”—as a signal to interrupt an escalating disagreement and reconnect.

The conversation then moves into Gaylen's concept of the Sanctuary Bond, which he describes as creating a relationship where partners feel emotionally safe and supported, even during difficult circumstances.

Through personal stories, including a moment of intense frustration while repairing a car, Gaylen illustrates how he and Heather have applied these ideas in everyday life.

The central message: A strong relationship isn't one where conflict never happens. It's one where both people intentionally protect the connection they share.

    About Gaylen Wilson:

Gaylen Wilson is a relationship coach, author and co-creator of the Monument Method and Sanctuary Bond concepts alongside his wife, Heather.

His work focuses on helping couples develop greater emotional connection, manage conflict and build relationships that feel supportive and secure.

In the conversation, Gaylen discusses their books, relationship-coaching approach and music inspired by their philosophy of protecting the relationship.

    Key Takeaways:
    • Relationship disagreements can involve deeper fears about emotional connection and attachment.
    • Gaylen draws on attachment theory to explain why couples may react defensively during conflict.
    • The Monument Method encourages partners to think of their relationship as something they build and protect together.
    • Winning an argument may be less important than preserving mutual respect and connection.
    • Hurtful words, dismissive behavior and repeated unresolved conflicts can erode trust.
    • Gaylen and Heather use the word “monument” as a mutually agreed-upon signal to interrupt escalating arguments.
    • Agreements about conflict should be discussed during calm moments rather than in the middle of an argument.
    • Gaylen describes affectionate reconnection and eye contact as helpful in his own relationship.
    • Partners may benefit from recognizing stress responses before they turn into arguments.
    • The Sanctuary Bond concept emphasizes becoming a source of emotional support for one another.
    • Small moments of affection and attention can help reinforce a sense of connection.
    • Emotional safety and intimacy are important aspects of long-term relationships.
    • Relationship repair requires intentional effort and practice.
    • Both partners must be willing participants in building healthier communication patterns.

    Chapters:
    1. What does a healing mindset mean for relationships?
    2. Why emotional connection matters in healing
    3. Attachment theory and the fear beneath arguments
    4. How conflict affects emotional safety

  • She Was Given Three Months to Live. Then Everything Changed. | Emma Victoria Johnson

What if you've been surviving for so long that survival simply feels normal?

In this episode of The Healing Mindset, Emma Victoria Johnson shares a deeply personal story about cancer, a difficult relationship, self-belief, faith, hope and the moment her perspective on life dramatically changed.

Emma says she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and given what she describes as a three-month prognosis. Rather than accepting that as the final word on her future, she says she turned toward resilience, faith, hope and a renewed belief in herself.

But the conversation goes beyond cancer.

Emma reflects on spending seven years in a relationship she now describes as toxic. While she was living through it, she says she didn't fully recognize how unhappy she had become. The warning signs may have been there, but survival had become familiar.

Her diagnosis became a profound turning point.

Emma began questioning the life she had accepted, listening more closely to herself, and reconsidering what healing meant to her.

She describes healing not as forced positivity, but as a process involving self-love, supportive relationships, hope, faith and the courage to make difficult changes.

Her story raises an important question:

How do you know you're living in survival mode when survival is the only life you've known?

    About Emma Victoria Johnson:

Emma Victoria Johnson shares her personal journey through stage 4 breast cancer, relationship difficulties, survival mode, faith, resilience and self-love.

In the conversation, Emma explains that her cancer diagnosis radically changed the way she viewed her life. She describes beginning to trust herself more deeply and becoming more intentional about the people, relationships and beliefs surrounding her.

Her message centers around hope, self-belief, listening to yourself and refusing to give up during life's darkest seasons.

    Key Takeaways:
    • Emma describes three foundations of a healing mindset: believing in yourself, loving yourself and having supportive people around you.
    • She also emphasizes faith and hope as important parts of her personal healing experience.
    • Emma says her stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis dramatically changed her perspective on life.
    • She describes having been given a three-month prognosis and choosing not to accept that as the definitive outcome.
    • A major life disruption can sometimes expose patterns that previously felt normal.
    • Emma describes spending approximately seven years in what she now considers a toxic relationship.
    • When you're inside an unhealthy situation, recognizing it clearly can be difficult.
    • Survival mode can look surprisingly ordinary: simply continuing to get through each day.
    • Red flags can be easier to recognize retrospectively.
    • Emma encourages people to pay attention to their internal sense that something isn't right.
    • Making meaningful changes doesn't necessarily create immediate peace; Emma describes the process as involving fear, doubt and difficult periods.
    • She believes self-respect and self-love are essential parts of moving forward.
    • Healing doesn't require pretending that everything is positive.
    • Emma encourages people not to give up hope during extremely difficult circumstances.
    • Her closing message is simple: believe in yourself, love yourself and listen to yourself.

  • You Don’t Have to Leave the Past Behind to Move Forward | Michaela S. Cox

What if healing doesn't require leaving the person—or the life—you loved behind?

In this episode of The Healing Mindset, Michaela S. Cox joins the conversation to explore grief, mindset, gratitude, perspective and what it actually means to move forward after life changes you.

Michaela challenges the idea that a healing mindset simply means “thinking positively.” Positive thinking can be part of it, but she argues that healing also requires choices, practices and the willingness to do the inner work.

Her perspective comes from deeply personal experience.

After the unexpected death of her husband, Michaela found herself caught between two needs: she knew she needed to continue living and growing, but moving forward felt like abandoning the life and person she loved.

Then a friend offered her a different metaphor.

What if she could be like a tree?

The roots could remain firmly connected to everything she loved and had experienced, while the branches continued growing upward and outward.

That idea gave Michaela what she calls a third door—not staying completely stuck and not abandoning the past, but allowing grief and growth to coexist.

The conversation also explores gratitude, journaling, faith, counseling, supportive relationships, music, movement and the small everyday practices that can help cultivate a healthier relationship with our thoughts.

Healing doesn't always require choosing between the person you were and the person you're becoming.

    Sometimes both can belong.

    About Michaela S. Cox:

Michaela S. Cox is an author and speaker whose work draws heavily from her lived experiences and the challenges she has navigated throughout her life.

She describes herself as a single mother of two and discusses writing as both a public form of expression and a private tool for processing her experiences.

Her work explores grief, resilience, faith, mindset and what she describes as finding grace in grief and learning to thrive through life's difficult seasons.

    Key Takeaways:
    • A healing mindset isn't simply forcing yourself to think positively.
    • Choosing healing is only the beginning; Michaela believes the choice must be supported by ongoing inner work.
    • Gratitude can help redirect attention toward what remains meaningful even during difficult seasons.
    • We cannot always control which thoughts appear, but we can become more intentional about which thoughts we continue engaging with.
    • Journaling can help move thoughts out of your head and create space to process them.
    • People can become stuck when they believe there are only two possible choices.
    • Sometimes healing requires finding “door number three.”
    • Moving forward after loss doesn't necessarily mean leaving someone behind.
    • Michaela's tree metaphor allows someone to remain rooted in what they love while simultaneously continuing to grow.
    • Two things can be true at the same time.
    • Healing and grief can coexist.
    • Counseling and conversations with trusted people can introduce perspectives we may struggle to find alone.
    • A healthier mindset can influence motivation, goals and the way we interpret everyday experiences.
    • Small practices such as journaling, prayer, meditation, music, supportive conversations, movement and spending time outside may help people create space for reflection and emotional wellbeing.
    • Michaela distinguishes temporary happiness from a deeper sense of joy and describes joy as something we can intentionally cultivate.

  • A Healing Mindset After Loss: Grief and Gratitude with Mark Stackpole

Do you feel you are grieving wrong because the pain has not gone away? On The Healing Mindset, host Ria and Mark Stackpole, a father who lost his daughter six months ago, explore what healing after loss really looks like.
