Dr. Paula Chambers is a speaker, writer, and dance healer based in Los Angeles. She is also a developmental trauma survivor. The divorce of her actor parents when she was five left her feeling powerless and ashamed. Paula changed careers four times in a quest to heal those feelings by making an impact on the world. After trying acting, she became an assistant director in the film business, a grant writer in nonprofits, and an English composition teacher while earning a PhD. She won awards for teaching, writing, and innovation, and learned a lot about self-transformation – what it feels like to change your sense of identity. Paula discovered Nia Technique, a mindful dance fitness practice that emphasizes sensing your body while moving. Nia helped Paula heal herself, by sensing her body, feeling her feelings, and choosing how to move. Nia healed Paula’s shame and gave her a whole new body-based sense of self - a transformation so compelling that she became a Nia teacher. She devotes herself to the practice and philosophy of Nia. Paula teaches Nia on Zoom from her home studio. Her engaging personality and beautiful, articulate voice sweep students along on an upward spiral of physical and emotional wellness. Her classes are especially beneficial for graduate students, developmental trauma survivors, actors, career-changers, recovering perfectionists, and anyone seeking to get on that upward spiral.
