I am so honored to have Coach Jody Long on my podcast today! It was such a treat to talk to her about all things overwhelm as moms, wives, women, sisters, daughters, and any other titles and responsbilites we take upon ourselves or that is given to us by societal norms. Regardless of what is on your "to-do list" there is one thing that we came to realize...that we have a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that sees us and wants us to be kind to ourselves by slowing down, noticing our biological cycle, and allowing ourselves to to find rest in our souls and in our lives.
We discuss how our monthly prementrual cycyle can be the means of reminding us to stop, drop, and rest.
That we aren't meant to be the same every single day of every week.
That there is some wisdom in creating our own "Red Tent" (based on the book by Anita Diamant) and create our own personal sanctuary of rest, relaxtion, reflection, and nourishment for ourselves.
That we as mothers can model what it is like to slow down and to not "earn" our time off.
To be gentle with ourselves.
And what it mean to lead with grace when it comes to our day to day activities.
Jody can be found at the following:

OMG you guys!!...I love doing breathworth and I will tell you that I didn't do a super clear explanation of it which tells me that I need to invite someone to come one and explain what it is and why it is blowing my mind with breakthroughs! Anyway, I wanted to share with you an "ending of a chapter" in my book of life. It came from a breathwork session and even now, as I'm thinking on it, it takes my "breath away" :) I share why I got the results I got from my separation, how choosing love (yes, it is a choice and not something that is acted upon us) has made ALL the difference in my relationship with myself, with my spouse, and the journey of separating. I am so grateful to a merciful God and gracious Savior for this journey - I am a new creature because of love. Listen in on what can be different when you decide to choose love over hate, over revenge, over anger and resentment. Then you decide what you want for your life.

Are you someone who does yearly vision boards? I never even considered doing one until last year and it was my best year yet for me mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. So for this year, I thought I'd do something a bit different and "break all the rules" around vision boards. This one is a "Scripture Vision Board" that reveals itself as you go through this year. I've found that God has a way of giving me answers and "hints" through scripture and words of prophets and apostles that helps me to face upcoming challenges and problems before they even come up! Crazy, right? So I thought, what if I document these scriptures and quotes on a vision board to remind myself of these heavenly messages when I'm feeling "stuck" and scared to move on. So here it is...the first ever scripture vision board. I cannot wait to see what this year will bring me AND at the same time, see the hand of God in my life.

Latter-day Life Coach Directory Summitt:
So I wanted to share with you an experience I had a couple of weeks ago. Shortly after Christmas, I noticed that my brain (and yes, I do refer to this internal organ as a “separate being”) was being especially chatty and negative about my “separated spouse”. Finally, I asked it a question….”Why are you being so negative? What is it that you know that I don’t know about him?” Now this is a tactic I use when I’m finding that my brain is being especially negative in anger, fear, resentment. I take the role of an “observer” and will talk to my brain as if it is an entity outside of me. Can I just say that those questions silenced my brain super quick.
Then shortly after that, I was able to hear God’s voice and He told me to do something. He told me to ask my spouse this question, “What is it about your life that you want God to change or take away?” Ok…I gotta be honest with you here….my knee jerk reaction is to go into fear and defensive mode and say, “Absolutely not.” Why in the world do you want me to rattle the hornet’s nest? Seriously?
But he knows that I will always do what he asks and so after I was able to process all the emotions, I agreed to do it.Two days later, he adds this…he wants me to let my spouse know that it was God that wanted me to ask him that question. This one hit me hard. Because of the anger and resentment that my spouse was feeling toward God And for that reason, I really resisted this instruction. Thank goodness I have some really close friends that I can process this with and I finally agreed to do it. Now if you’re wondering if I already asked the question…the answer is, “Yes.” And we’re supposed to have an in person conversation about this. By the time this episode comes out, we will already have had this conversation. Just a few days ago, as I was thinking about our upcoming convo, God dropped this song into my Being. And yes, God knows music! I have so much evidence of that guys. And I am always amazed at the many ways He communicates with us and we may not always realize it. The song was, “How Deep is Your Love” by the BeeGees. LOL…OMG!...really? That one? I had to look it up and listen to it over and over again. But more than anything…I was asking myself, “How deep IS my love?” “What does that even mean?”
As I am pondering upon these questions, I am filled with an immense amount of love and gratitude. The JOY inside me is so intense, I want to burst. And yet….I ask myself, is my love AS DEEP as it can be? So I’m taking a leap of faith…that no matter the depth of love I may have right now, I am asking God to deepen that love even more. But as I’m asking for that, I intuitively and inherently know that it will require a deepening of my willingness to experience and to accept suffering and maybe pain. Do I even know what that means? Absolutely not. But will it be worth it? And for some reason, the Divine Spirit within me is saying, “Yes.” That I am willing to walk that walk because I know that it is the only way. To follow God into the dark unknown.
I think of the Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane and I think of what He went through and believe that.

Latter-day Life Coach Directory Summitt:
Hello and welcome back my friend!
I hope the new year is going well for you.
So I have to tell you…and I will be completely honest with you….I’ve been in a funk:
Feeling
Uncertain
Not
Knowing what is going on
And I’ve been feeling this since last weekend. I have to tell you that I wasn’t even going to record this podcast till I had resolved it - because that’s what I was told to do. Don’t share your FUNK until you’ve resolved it but I’m thinking that that might not be true. So why am I sharing this mid-journey of mine Because I think..actually, I know that I’m not the only one that goes through something like this and it can be so easy to make it mean something. For example, this is the story my brain keeps telling me:
Fun, huh? And at the beginning, I was totally believing all of that. So then I was asking myself, “What can I do to go back to feeling confident certain, love, and joy”…because ya know I love me some joy - at all times, in all things, and in alllllll places! And if I’m not feeling these feelings then there must be something wrong with me. There must be something I did or didn’t do to feel this FUNK.
But is that really true? Does this mean that something is wrong in my intimate connection with God? Maybe and at the same time… maybe not. So where do I go from here?
I began by listing out what I know to be true about God and Jesus:
That They love me unconditionally.
That they are ALWAYS with me.
That They have always given me good gifts of the spirit even when I “thought” I didn’t deserve it.
That They understand the human experience and the trials and tribulations we are meant to experience.
That through the pain, suffering, death, AND resurrection of Jesus Christ, He has saved me physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally.
That the Grace of God is more expansive, more wonderful, more beautiful that my small human brain can possibly comprehend.
That Their intent isn’t to punish but to bring me into greater awareness of who They are, who I am, and my relationship with Them.
