The teachers complete the study of I Kings chapter 20, and a number of lessons for King Ahab concerning not only warfare and prophecy, but mercy and cruelty as well.

This week the teachers complete the initial part of the story of the prophet Eliyahu (Elijah) and the introduction to his successor, Elisha, in I Kings chapter 19. That is followed by chapter 20, and King Ahab’s conflict with Syria

I Kings 17 through chapter 18

Join the Torah teachers – Rob Miller, Mark Pitrone, and Mark Call, as they discuss the initial part of the story of one of the most “colorful” prophets in the Bible — Eliyahu, or Elijah.

The story of the divided kingdoms, Israel in the north, and Judah, in the south, continues with I Kings chapter 16.

The teachers explore the kings of the now-split northern and southern kingdoms, as the study of I Kings 15 (conclusion) into chapter 16 continues “in parallel”.

This week the teachers continue the study of the chronicles of the kings of the divided kingdoms, Israel and Judah.

It is the essence of the story of “two houses,” and without an understanding of that history, and the prophetic implications of what happened then, is still in progress now, and must happen in the future, it’s almost impossible to really understand Scripture.

I Kings chapter 14 into 15.

The death of the “man of God” sent to King Jeroboam is dramatic proof that those who are called by YHVH to carry out a mission need to have the strength of their own convictions.

This week the Torah teachers discuss the conclusion of I Kings chapter 13, and continue into chapter 14. The lessons of the idolatry of the northern kingdom are still poignant; no wonder much of the ‘church’ chooses to deny they still matter.

The teachers continue the study of the split between the northern (“Israel”) and southern (“Judah”) kingdoms during the time of Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

Most importantly, the description of how Jeroboam was able to convince people that was looks like idolatry just might not be is still just as relevant as it ever was.
