August 25, 2019The Adventures Of Sam Spade, Detective - The Vapio Cup Caper - August 22, 1948The Adventures of Sam Spade, Detective was based loosely on the private detective character Sam Spade, created by writer Dashiell Hammett for "The Maltese Falcon". The role in the film was of course played by Humphrey Bogart. The radio series ran 221 episodes from 1946 to 1951 ... splitting it's time on ABC in 1946, CBS from 1946-49 and finishing on NBC in 1949-51. The show won the Edgar Award for Best Radio Drama. Howard Duff and Lurene Tuttle played the roles of Sam Spade and his secretary Effie for most of the run. Track features background about the series at the beginning and then "The Vapio Caper" is the case solved in this episode. Thank you for listening.
